    Soul Searching a Venerable that mains the soul path? Also is that the real SSDV that they captured? Idk, but this whole things about HC capturing SSDV goes ways too smooth and fishy as hell. We don't even see SSDV grotto-heaven yet. For all we know the real SSDV is hiding somewhere else and that thing HC captured is just a clone like Bo Qing with Pseudo-Venerable strength.

    It’s hilarious cause you can actually see the HC wisehead thinking logically about how FY’s talent and personality are too dangerous and risky to mess with or even consider manipulating, but duke dragonass shows up like “Doesn’t matter, HC better!!” and it’s gonna screw them over BAD.

    He literally walked long enough to refine perseverance gu when only one other person did that by accident. And they watch his fights, they see how quickly he grows. How do you play games with that???

    I may be overthinking, but is soul searching the one and only soul venerable, a good idea?
    Let's gather facts. Rank nine can make perpetum mobile out of dao marks.
    He can manipulate his marks and soul as he pleases (case in study - during fight of purple against duke long, he vanished his dao marks from his soul)
    He is a supreme grandmaster of soul path.
    So, is duke long really duke long? Or zi wei, zi wei? Is everybody in central continent really everybody?
    That's just a sensible concern. But if he really can detain him just like that, then hats off.

          Obviously he won't forget the knowledge of the path he created singlehandedly. But, first of all, he isn't Supreme grandmaster anymore, the same with his rank 9 Cultivation. He doesn't have necessary Gu worms to counter Duke Longs suppression as well. In this Gu world knowledge isn't omnipotent Gu masters got to have resources so that they can apply their knowledge in practice.

          You're right though. In the battle for the destruction of fate Gu he will show his fangs.

            Speaking of Gu worms, it might not be a necessity at the supreme grandmaster/ Venerable level since formation path great grandmasters can use mortal gu worms and dao marks present in the environment to raise a formation to immortal level. I'm sure other paths have similar capacities and moreover we're talking about supreme grandmaster in a path plus at least grandmaster in almost all other paths.

      I had similar thoughts. I bet SSDV is acting as Duke Long after possessing him and is faintly helping FY out by making Zi Wei not kill him immediately. Some might argue that Duke Long can suppress SSDV soul cuz he's not in his prime at rank 9 anymore but neither is Duke Long. DL might be strong against fellows like purple, but no way his methods, especially in soul path, go further than a Venerable.
