      He can just eat the corpse, that way he can gain the dao marks without skipping the tribulation. Also I'm pretty sure there'll be some hard cap later on where he can no longer skip the tribulation no matter how many aperture he annexed. For example the tribulation to advance to rank 9. There's prolly other requirement besides passing the tribulation to advance to rank 9, otherwise there won't be only 10 Venerable in history.

    Seems like he is throwing away incredible gains in the future for small bursts of strength, I mean 2 earthly calamities propeled his dao marks to unprecedented levels among rank six and even some weak rank sevens, and now he isnt using this opportunity to propel himself even more, just how many dao marks could he obtain from one level seven earthly calamity

        But the strength he gets from annexing apertures is just too small compared to his own tribulations. It's like if you worked out for 1-hour and got super jacked, or you just did a 1-minute workout for 2 months, maybe you'll get to the same physique but the 1-hour workout would just give you an incredible base for future workouts and make you way stronger than normal people way faster.

          Annex = lvl up.
          Consume (took corpse in aperture) = stat increase.
          Tribulations = lvl up + stat inc. But it's barely controllable and way more dangerous + heaven will will look into his aperture during tribulations and know all about him so heaven will make more troublesome traps.

          But his tribulations come at fixed times and bring about great risk. It'd take him too long to advance ranks, and Dao marks can be gathered in other ways (I'm sure he'll find something)

      He can increase his cultivation level by annexing apertures and gain attainment through dream realms only downside is that he would have fewer dao marks and what use is future potential if cant live long enough to get to that point? He is fugitive all 5 regions are searching for him he needs strength to keep himself alive

      That's not true, after his earthly tribulation in the earth trench, he got less than 10k dao marks if I remember correctly and even a bottom tier rank 7 has atleast 10k Dao marks. And thanks to the SIA, he can absorb them all without any loss. How is he missing out?
