    Yeah, he’s literally an average teenager. Somewhat impulsive and rash. Hypocritical and immature. Above all, easily molded by society and constantly bending to its expectations. He’s a relatively nice kid, considering the dark state of this world. But the people who read this book are delusional and think he specifically is the worst person ever because he has low self esteem. They either misunderstand what the book is trying to show or are simply misanthropes.

        The “fake parents” who shaped his mind to be grateful towards him and the woman who even manipulated FY, a grown man, when he had first reincarnated into this world. The entire point is that FZ believed others and did what society expected him to do instead of trying to reach out to FY.

        Almost everyone in this society would treat FY badly if they were in FZ’s place. However, not many people help others selflessly the way FZ does which is why I say he is relatively nice.

    There is an easy way for him to solve the cicada problem. It is his vital Gu so it can not die from fusion. Just attempt a fusion with a random rank 1 Gu that you know will fail and it will get injured again and do this every time it is about to fully heal, which should buy him at least a few months and up to a few years at a time depending on how injured it gets.

    Downside is, he wouldn't be able to use its ability in a pinch. But leaving it outside his body sounds like a worse alternative.
