Once the item was lost, he would have to let The World die to prevent the “magic” from getting exposed.

Why do i get the feeling mr world might be mysteriously 'missing' next meeting?
I doubt klein will rly lose the item because its too important; needed for the puppet and its his ticket to seq5. If hes lucky, it might even be purified when he gets it back.

When the city of silver was first described, i imagined a land with a sunless sky that was denied the sun through supernatural means and realm f#ckery. The logistics confused me because as long as the land is still part of the planet, it should still get sunlight. The fact that expeditions had repeatedly failed to find the land which should be to the East passed the Sonia sea has convinced that the silver city was removed from the world.

But now I realise the answer has been there all along. The one consistency is the never ending lightning. Lightning requires storm clouds. Storm clouds block sun light. Storms make the sea dangerous and deadly for vessels. There is a God of storms who's believers are typically sea farers. I am now convinced the land has been intentionally engulfed in eternal storms that block off sunlight and prevent any ships from entering or leaving. The purpose is either punishment, or containment.

Of the sky is all storm clouds, how would be able to tell The difference? Especially if you've never seen the sky before. And if there are no clouds, how is there lightning all the time?

Oh theres definitely some supernatural f#ckery going on. Knowing that, the whys and hows of the darkness and lightning is probably equally supernatural. There might not be a realistic explanation so lightning without clouds is very possible. Or at least, naybe its just too dark to actually see them?
Lord of storms being involved is a good guess too.

In the first chapter, he described the lights in the spirit world. He believed that the seven rays of pure light of different colors contained the limitless knowledge of different domains, and that no matter where the travelers were in the spirit world, they would be able to see them blanketing higher elevations. What was even more surprising was that these seven rays of light were alive!
    So basically an alive rainbow

    Quote: Segan
Giving Derrick the eye seems like a tremendously terrible idea. Not only is he way too naïve and careless (just him opening the box was obviously a stupid thing to do), but the eye is very important to Klein.

They should have known that him performing that ritual might have been enough to get Derrick locked up and the eye taken from him. It's a huge gamble. And it's a gamble that if failed, fails twice: they lose the eye and they lose Derrick. There would be no way to get either of them back, or to recover that loss.

Its a risk sure but klein already weighed the pros and cons.
He'd rather lose an item thats useful but not critical in a gamble that has a decent chance of paying off rather than lose derrik, the knowledge/material access of the city while allowing the fallen god a foothold in that place.
He wouldnt be making the bet if he had better options.
