It was as if he could see shadows of ineffable shapes, different colors of light that contained endless knowledge, and a majestic, tall, golden figure looking down upon everything.

This figure stood beside Mr. Fool in the thick gray fog, with twelve pairs of huge, dark, mysterious wings on his back.

MC doesn't know this yet but he just became a real god for Little Sun. happy-birthday2

I would generally agree, but here I somehow can't.
I do enjoy a good archenemy. Battle of wits, intertwining plots and so on, but that guy just gives me creeps.
Instead of Sherlock vs Moriarty, it feels more like redhood vs wolf. He has knowledge, strength, even information advantage over MC, and it feels like he's some kind of parasite that will slowly draw near Klein and kill him, while MC can't do anything to permanently stop him.
I don't know, maybe I'm made for more laid-back stories.
For now I'm very interested in his backstory, and very expectant to never see him again.

From what you said, it does seem that you are more suited towards laid-back stories. But the mystery genre reject such predictable writing! Anything that you think will happen in the story will most probably happen but in a way you might not expect (or not).

If he didn't have the Blasphemy Card, or if Derrick hadn't contacted him, or if the Fog wasn't able to respond to powerful items in the way that it did, or if he didn't have the Ritual Book, or if... (I could keep going...)

So many pieces had to fall into place to fight the clone of Amon. If any one of those pieces were missing, it's likely he could not have survived that encounter.
