My question is, lets say he gives her the token. What the hell would he receive in return? Like to give him a invite to a better sect the system would literally need to bend reality itself and memories/actions of people to achieve that. Like randomly dropping a token on his head won't just work, unless you just use plot armor and say well it works because I want it to work

For this to work there is only two ways without going into the reality warping rabbit hole. Either the sect didn't have an exact record of how many tokens were given out since the slots are not fixed by name (which in itself will seem like a minor plot hole) or the system acts like the system of another novel I have read where instead of conjuring things out of nothing it takes things already present in the world meaning taking another's token/a long lost token or something along those lines .

Yeah your second guess is right, in regards to tokens it just takes existing ones and gives it to him.
        .
        Spoiler
        .
It's still kinda plot-armory in regards to another token he obtains in the future cause the elder it comes from I guess is already dead but I dont think it was ever actually said he's dead. It's just treated as "oh you have this honoured elder's token! Thats amazing" and they asked him if he got an explanation on what the position entails from that elder so you'd ASSUME he's alive. And if he's alive then they could easily confirm he never actually received the token

Maybe if u weren't so narrow minded u would understand.
There are ancient sects which some time ago gave away tokens, but the owners never used them, so they become lost in a world or in possession of their descendants.

Good question. I think having a system that drops powerful stuff in front of your might as well have the power to shape reality. It's kind of its gig.

Story wise? Maybe some ancient sect has some ancient tradition where whoever has this ancient token gets in.

I don't like this either. It becomes a golden finger if it's not limited to material things.
