This was what fundamentally separated intelligent humanoids (demons, elves, vampires, humans, etc) from monsters (goblins, ogres, werewolves, dragons, etc)

What the hell! You're telling me we gave up a potential dragon waifu but vampires and demons make the list as "totally not monsters" even though werewolves are left behind? Is this so we don't feel bad that dragons are hunted to regional extinction, and whatever survivors are left will be killed by Quinlan and his subordinates? I'm hoping this is like "Death Mage doesn't want a fourth time" where they are intelligent and do have souls, they're just governed in a cycle managed by a separate "evil" god. Likely even the one who gave Quin his race.
