I Fabricated the Techniques, but My Disciple Really Mastered Them?瞎编功法,徒儿你真练成了?

Li Xuan found himself in a predicament after transmigrating without the luxury of a system or plug-ins. To evade notice, he took refuge in a small mountain village. However, one day, he was mistaken for a reclusive expert, he was forcefully adopted as a master by an eager disciple who refused to take no for an answer.

Struggling with his moral compass, Li Xuan initially rejected the disciple's proposal due to his commitment to honesty. Yet, faced with persistent insistence and tempting offers, he reluctantly crafted fictional cultivation techniques. Much to his astonishment, the disciple not only embraced these fabricated teachings but successfully cultivated with remarkable prowess.

Witnessing his disciple's thunderous muscles, resilient bones, and potent vital force, Li Xuan couldn't fathom the inexplicable success. Bewildered, he exclaimed, "I fabricated it all! How did you manage to cultivate so successfully? What kind of monster are you?"

To add to the perplexity, a mysterious Golden Finger manifested: "Your disciple mastered the technique you invented from scratch. Your flawless completion of the technique has enhanced your strength a hundredfold compared to others at the same level!" Collapse

    Finished reading all of em

    Worth my time!

The starting point is interesting, by the time it gets to the next map it gets a bit repetitive but its not to the point of destroying the story, late stage the world building starts to light up and the ending was a bit of a letdown but a great ending nevertheless acinema

I'd give this novel a 7/10, mostly good. This is technically xuanhuan due to the main power system(s), but it's otherwise similar to xianxia. However, this story does avoid most of what drags down these webnovels. The tropes are generally used well, and many annoying ones aren't present at all.

The characters are mostly likeable and/or interesting, and the main characters are distinctive. There's not much screentime given to arrogant characters or fools who can't see Mount Tai (except for a few arcs). There are long stretches where all of the characters are likeable and not pig-headed, which is a breath of fresh air! As far as I can remember, there are no useless characters or jade beauty trophy wives, and peanut gallery characters are rare.

The golden finger is pretty simple, which is both good and disappointing. The main power systems are a lot more interesting and memorable, and suit the disciples who cultivate them. The author wrote them with care and depth, particularly early on. Most of the individual techniques are cool as well. I also like how well all off these work with the plot. We do get some good Dao comprehension at times, but there is barely any of that when the main characters reach the peak of their power.

The general worldbuilding is fine. The more-detailed locations have some thought put into resources, clan and sect relations, history, lore, plot tie-ins, etc. A lot of locations are minimally detailed and somewhat disconnected, with some weird writing choices, but everything fits together alright. I liked most of it, and there's not much that I thought was lazy or unbelievable.

Much of the plot is based on a simple cycle. The MC goes to a new area where he is unknown, settles down, and finds someone very unusual. He devises a cultivation method to suit them, and gives them hints and advice to grow their power (and his own). The disciple uses their growing power to deal with existing enemies, start new conflicts, and becomes a powerhouse in the region (often dragging in their master and the other disciples as well). When things get too dangerous, the master steps in and easily deals with the enemies. They become famous. attract followers and make allies, then set up a legacy.
Although this repeats several times, the details and subplots are different enough that it doesn't feel repetitive. Most of the time, the MC passively relies on his disciples to increase his power, but he does act on his own sometimes.

The ending isn't bad, although it's quite lacking. The final arc was very rushed, as the author only allocated a dozen chapters when there should have been at least a hundred more. So much necessary detail was left out, and several important payoffs never showed up. At least there wasn't anything frustrating in what was included.

This story is fairly good overall, but it does have notable flaws and some weak arcs. I don't regret pushing through hundreds of chapters of bad MTL, but I doubt I'll reread this in its entirety. Many parts are worth rereading, though, and I've bookmarked hundreds of useful writing references as well.

This story is a solid B, with a worthwhile ending. If you have nothing else to read, ignore the negative reviews from people that couldn't get past chapter 40. After chapter 50 it hits its own stride and keeps going with consistent quality.
The universe isn't as expansive as other stories, and certain parts of the end are definitely rushed, but overall I think this one holds strong.
MTL issues that were mentioned in chapter comments seem to have been fixed by the time I had read through.

I'm so confused why is the previous 100 multiplication not adding to the current realm its like his strength is temporary. Each time he grows into a new realm he has EXACTLY that realms 100 multiplication. The previous realm has nothing to do with is current realm. If you had a 100 stronger qi or chi it would make sense for next realm to reflect his foundation, but in the story each time he breaksthrough he attains a regular or average strength of the said realm... it's beyond confusing.
