    Wow, forgetting all his motivations and memories is truly turning him into different person. Seems like his morals and personality is slowy slipping away.     I can't believe he's even forgotten even that far back. MC's belief in not sacrificing others for his powers is greatly linked to who he is, its the reason he fought the Makli clan and met those Jin clan orphans, its the reason he had to master 5 different elements, and its the reason he met his first love, MC becoming a puppet royally f#cked him up.

        The reason he never practiced any demonic arts except for the few is because those are the only ones that function without sacrificing and harming others for his power, no doubt species was probably a big thing but since he decided not to even harm beasts and such(except for that fox that one time) I would say it was more of a general "don't sacrifice others if necessary" thing rather than "don't sacrifice humans for power"

    A person's changed, but his motivations from back in the days, of which he doesn't even remember, affect this much the current self? Could've just said that "I was dumb back then", and went on. Even if he might later think that this decision of his was dumb. And continues being dumb even later on anyway.
    Isn't it what we're doing all the time? As our every action isn't really adequate by default.
