It’s good but could use some proofreading and less wordy so to speak. Other than that it’s engaging, kinda unique, etc. I would recommend giving it a try at the very minimum.

Overall it's very good, but there's a recurring problem that plagues new authors. The separation between what the author knows and what the MC knows is very thin here.

The MC is always making the right decisions that precede unforeseen events to come, as if he has some kind of precognitive intuition. Sometimes he does it with a motivation that does not take into account the best interests of a decades-old mob boss, but it always ends up working well for him in some way so even foolish, reckless or hasty decisions don't cause any harm.

However, this is a silly complaint because despite this flaw I still find myself very involved with the story.

A very positive point is that the MC is smart, unlike hundreds of other stories where the author praises his character as intelligent, but in reality he is not.

It's not bad but I honestly struggled to remain immersed while reading it. It felt a little wordy at times and I'd overall say it just isn't for me.

I don't have a complete evaluation yet, but I've read at least 50 chapters and from what I've seen so far, the novel is very good. The protagonist is cunning and intelligent, extremely manipulative and certainly not a good person, but he's not a bad person either, he just does what needs to be done. The energy system is pretty easy to understand, nothing too innovative, the world building is going well so far and the characters have personality and aren't just cardboard cutouts. I rate this novel with a potential B or B+. I'll read a few more chapters and then make a more comprehensive assessment.

This story is very 4 star. It isn’t going to blow you away with how creative or deep it is, but it is generally original enough for a story from RR. The old man MC is OP enough to get away with doing what he wants, which is just different from the usual most of the time to be interesting.

If you don’t like the whole OP MC concealing power and lurk in the shadows thing this might not be for you. He does show off, but never all the cards. It is a bit of a slow burn with most action not being super life threatening or edge of your seat given MC rarely goes all out.

All in all you probably won’t lose braincells reading this.
