OH MY GOD! I wasn’t even thinking of this before—it was so long ago—but you’re right! This entire chain reaction started because the MC casually killed a fish! 😮 There was another prerequisite: the MC selling the info to the puppet master businessman, who then spread the rumors. That move amplified everything. But still… the butterfly effect is terrifying.

For those who don’t remember the chain of events (only Li Fan’s direct actions are bolded—everything else is butterfly effect):
      1. MC killed a giant Liuli Fish.
      2. This caused a sea creature with dragon bloodline to gain sentience and begin seeking transformation materials.
      3. It destroyed the Spirit Mist Grass Island, as the grass was useful to it.
      4. The destruction of the grass triggered scarcity.
      5. MC sold this intelligence to the puppet master businessman for profit.
      6. The businessman used his network to spread rumors through puppets.
      7. The price of Spirit Mist Grass skyrocketed.
      8. Powerful cultivators destroyed other grass-producing regions, worsening scarcity.
      9. The Tianxuan Mirror was forced to announce the Wood Element Subworld’s riches to stabilize the situation.
      10. This drew the Five Elders Association’s full interest in stealing the Five Elements Subworlds.
      11. Instead of a minor conflict, a full-scale war erupted.
      12. The war became the catalyst for the Skynet Formation’s development.

Unless, of course, the war being the catalyst for the formation is just an excuse—which, in hindsight, I find highly likely. Initially, the alliance’s official narrative was that the formation existed solely to identify Five Elders Association spies via their soul contracts. In that context, the war—enabling the capture of many enemy cultivators—made perfect sense as a catalyst. But as we now see, it’s not a spy-detection tool at all. It’s the Tianxuan Mirror’s attempt to replace the Heavens. Most likely, the formation was already in development long before the war. The spy pretext? Possibly just a convenient excuse.

MC’s butterfly effect really is getting bigger and bigger now, he is actually able to control so much wow

At this point in time, I agree with the idea that some form of this formation was already in production, maybe even longer than we could have imagined before Li Fan was born, and we can probably assume it wasn’t for tracking down spies, and that was probably a smokescreen,

The goal makes sense because the end result was the Tianxuan mirror achieving Dao Transcendence

It’s hard to connect all the dots, but I think for right now we can say two things
        1. dao transcendence is something someone wants but we don’t know if it’s limited to just this lifetime /the years li fan has been around
        2. the alliance wants to control cultivators (and that the spy tracking formation is likely just the way it showed itself in this lifetime because of Li Fan’s butterfly effect making this the best smokescreen for them to decide to use, so who knows what will happen with difference events)

If we decided on these facts, I guess we can try asking the question about what Li Fan can do to control his butterfly effect? Should Li Fan change his actions? or should he just try taking advantage in some way? or try rushing his actions before this takes effect?

But maybe asking these questions is pointless for now, this story is complete and we don’t have to wait for new chapters, so maybe the best thing we can do now is think /understand what happened and continue reading rather than try to predict,

as long as we understand what has already happened we won’t get loss in this next lifetime

    Pls like or thank crisp009

Are these gods and the great father gods just normal cultivators that would be nascent realm and are called such because the cultivation era ended and they are rare? Or are they new characters above longevity immortal realm?

Is this reality inevitable or did one of MC’s small actions cause everything, I assume he sped it up a tiny bit is all, but I guess it’s time for him to restart life again

But if it’s inevitable will mc start dismantling the 10.000 immortal alliance by taking their treasure over life times like what he plans to do with pearl girl heavenly treasure that infinitely makes cultivation techniques, I guess it’s time for the long game (well duh, mc has many second chances, and bit by bit will win, even if he loses a couple times along the way, he wins in the end)

      Hello again, fellow daoist.

Regarding the questions you posed in this comment, I’ve shared several speculations in my reply to the comment above yours. I’d be very interested in your thoughts on them.

Other than that, I find it extremely unlikely these represent new cultivation realms, given the ever-increasing power gap between higher realms. More likely, these cultivators were called "gods" because they went extinct and became legendary.

If the cultivators knew who caused all this, they would have killed the protagonist. I'm shocked, he took it and brought the world to ruin.

**Chapter 419 – A Thousand Years, and at Last, True Return**

Anchor Year 468 — A piece of news shook the entire Xuānhuáng Realm.

The *White Mist Barrier*, which marked the borders between provinces, had inexplicably begun to expand outward.

The Alliance of Ten Thousand Immortals dispatched Celestial Artisans to investigate.

Anchor Year 469 — The expansion ceased, yet the Celestial Artisans returned without results.

Anchor Year 490 — A group of cultivators emerged from the mist. They wore the robes of the former Alliance of Ten Thousand Immortals. Though long dead, they still moved freely, unaware of their own deaths.

Uninformed of the Alliance’s founding, they clashed violently with the Celestial Artisans who came to contain them.

Only when a squad of six Celestial Artisans at the level of Integration Realm intervened were the revenants subdued.

Anchor Year 524 — Han Wuyou broke through to the Divine Transformation Realm.

Anchor Year 539 — The golden obelisks of the Xuānhuáng Realm erupted for the third time.

Heaven and earth trembled again, though less violently than before.

Anchor Year 580 — Han Wuyou received a secret letter inviting him to a hidden location in Tianyu Province.

Ever cautious, he declined to attend.

Anchor Year 592 — News reached him that in the territory of Jingqiong Province, the *Heavenly Profound Spirit-Locking Formation* had failed for the time it takes to burn a stick of incense.

The Alliance again issued a *Heaven’s Execution Order*, offering a bounty for a cultivator named Liu Yihang.

Anchor Year 595 — Han Wuyou received another invitation, this time accompanied by a small round stone disc.

According to the message, the disc—called the *Calamity Stone*—could conceal the bearer from the Spirit-Locking Formation’s perception when activated.

After much deliberation, Han Wuyou changed his appearance and went to the meeting.

The gathering was held in a hidden valley in Tianyun Province.

A cultivator introduced himself as a member of the *Heaven-Reversing Society*, one of the resistance groups that had once fought the Alliance to the death.

Since the cultivators’ great defeat, they had gone underground, biding their time and recruiting in secret for centuries.

Among them were Gu Xinghan, who had once issued the *Proclamation to the Cultivators*; Lan Yuchang, who had risked his life to reveal the existence of the *Eternal Immortal Wall*; and Liu Yihang, whose recent act had disrupted the Spirit-Locking Formation—all members of the Heaven-Reversing Society.

Though few in number, the Society gathered the finest surviving cultivators in the realm.

They had long researched methods to counter the Formation.

The *Calamity Stone* was one such creation—derived from a secondary body of the *Heavenly Profound Mirror*, the *Calamity-Destroying Stone Disc*.

Through their studies, they discovered that these secondary bodies retained fragments of the Mirror’s nature.

Because of this, the main Mirror sometimes mistook them for part of itself, leaving them unmonitored—creating rare blind spots within the Formation.

The *Calamity-Destroying Stone Disc* had been found only through the sacrifice of countless cultivators.

Besides the Calamity Stones, the Heaven-Reversing Society had also forged a powerful weapon—the *Heaven-Felling Arrow*.

Liu Yihang’s temporary disruption of the Formation had been achieved through this arrow.

Its materials came from the strange phenomena—*Aberrations*—that had increasingly spread across the Xuānhuáng Realm.

These Aberrations were like a sickness of heaven and earth.

Since the Spirit-Locking Formation had usurped the role of Heaven itself, the Aberrations could infect it as well.

After hearing all this, Han Wuyou asked calmly,
“Why tell me so much at our first meeting? Are you not afraid I might report you to the Alliance?”

The speaker only smiled and introduced another person—none other than Linghu Chang of the Medicine King Sect, once a member of *Restored Immortality*.

It turned out that when Restored Immortality fell, Linghu Chang had survived using the *True Cauldron of the Medicine King*.

Hidden in the wilds, he had later joined the Heaven-Reversing Society by chance.

With the cauldron’s protection and vast resources, the Society managed to grow even under the Alliance’s relentless suppression.

Over three centuries, Linghu Chang had gradually awakened several disciples who had been slumbering within the cauldron—including Liu Yihang, adopted son of the former Medicine King Sect Master Liu Ruchen.

Seeing his old comrade again, Han Wuyou’s eyes reddened as memories of the fallen surged forth.

He formally joined the Heaven-Reversing Society.

After only half a day at their base, he returned to the Alliance.

Anchor Year 603 — The golden obelisks erupted for the fourth time—longer than the previous three combined.

From the heavens spread countless green lines, weaving into a vast net that covered all beings of the Xuānhuáng Realm.

Henceforth, cultivators began calling the Spirit-Locking Formation by a new name: the *Mystic Net*.

Anchor Year 610 — The Heaven-Reversing Society reported that in Zhuoyu Province, a colossal mountain had emerged from the earth, obliterating the land.

Almost all life in the province perished, and even the local Mystic Net appeared damaged.

The Society relocated its headquarters there.

Anchor Year 690 — During a meeting, Han Wuyou learned that the Society had forged more than three thousand *Heaven-Felling Arrows*.

Yet, because the Mystic Net’s outer layers were reinforced by defensive formations, even such numbers would be insufficient to destroy its core.

    Patience was still required.

Anchor Year 698 — From the *Array-Breaking Disk*, Han Wuyou comprehended numerous formation blueprints.

Anchor Year 710 — He secretly met with Linghu Chang and Liu Yihang to show them the designs.

Anchor Year 711 — The Heaven-Reversing Society confirmed that these were indeed the original schematics of the Mystic Net, and in excitement, they asked Han Wuyou where he had obtained them.

In his sealed chamber, Han Wuyou stared at the Array-Breaking Disk in silence for a long time, then sealed it away with secret arts.

Anchor Year 934 — A wandering orphan stumbled upon the broken jade disk among the ruins.

Believing it a treasure, he carried it day and night, forming a faint resonance.

The skies, once green, turned gray.

Anchor Year 935 — The survivors of the earth spoke of an ancient legend:

The ground quaked. The heavens split with cracks of light.

Above the firmament, shadows of gods clashed.

World-ending lightning fell, reducing vast lands to nothingness.

At last, two giant hands tore open the sky.

When the dust settled and silence returned, the gods’ war had angered the Great Father.

    The world was forsaken.

Majestic cities became ruins. The gods vanished from the heavens.

    The world sank into decay.

Anchor Year 936 — The orphan died while hunting.

The jade disk lay quietly upon the desolate plain, occasionally disturbed by curious beasts.

Anchor Year 1032 — Even the beasts were gone.

Anchor Year 1573 — The sky was black. The land was still.

Anchor Year 2078 — The world lay in silence.

Anchor Year 3024 — At last, sunlight returned, falling upon the broken jade disk.

Anchor Year 3036 — *True Return* activated.

No he killed the fish first then unknowingly made the dragon thingy grow too big since it had no competition and then it ate the grass then the subworlds were discovered then in the next life he repeated while plotting on the grass therefore the fish killing came first not the other way around

Yes the fish came first. But in the previous life he killed the fist, the price went up then decreased and that was it. The thing that blew it out of proportion was him speculating.

If this really is a butterfly effect, then there were two prerequisite events—so both of you are right. However, I think it’s highly likely it wasn’t a butterfly effect at all. At most, it may have accelerated things by giving the alliance an excuse. I won’t go deep into my thoughts here, since I’ve already detailed them in my reply to the current top comment (LustyReader69’s, for those who came later).
