    I honestly don’t get the hate behind COI. So far, it has been a great and entertaining book. I will admit that I haven’t been reading it as fast as LOTM but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it.

    In LOTM, Klein was trying so desperately to not lose himself in this new world and to go back to his own world. Losing himself means he would ultimately lose control. He would always have to remind himself about who he was because the experiences in this world forced him to do so.

    In COI, Lumian keeps on suffering setbacks and hard blows and yet he’s trying so desperately to cling to the little hope that he has, this is his way of not losing control. I’ve heard how people don’t like this mc compared to Klein but that’s honestly the problem, just cuz the book is a sequel doesn’t mean that the characters should be the exact same. Lumain is a standalone character with his own merits and flaws and frankly,as a character, he is def not badly written at all.
