To take a dragon's hoard is to challenge death.

The greatest of the sea-drakes wakes, curled on his silver throne; but there is no silver. His hoard is stolen. He rises, screaming, and chases the thief to the ends of the world—only to be shot from the sky.

But dragons do not die easy, and never one with such festering hatred. A dungeon core rises from his corpse.

If he intends to survive so near the cove of pirates that slew his past self, he'll need to master his powers—and quickly. For these pirates are dragonslayers; they won't be felled by mere mushrooms or spiders.

Beneath the lawless Calarata, the young dungeon core will have to fight to survive; and one day, he will return death to the man who killed him.

    What's the draw of dungeon core novels? I don't get them. The few I tried reading all seemed like common meme and trope collections, low-brow humor and basic villain-ish MC's on a linear videogame story plot.

    The only remotely interesting ones I've read were about a dungeon lord that regularly left the dungeon.

    I can see it being a minor part of a greater plot, yknow, as part of home/base defense and warfare, but making it the focus of a novel? What can possibly be consistently compelling about it?

      Bro what? You're seriously asking what is interesting about a dungeon that is sapient?

      Dungeons can create life and powerful constructs. On a high level they can even create biomes on each floor. On a legendary level they can rival or even surpass entire planets, and create lifeforms that are as powerful as divine beings.

      Ur questioning what is interesting about seeing a sapient dungeon use its unprecedented intelligence to rise to that point, or even surpass that point?

        yea na, you know what else could do that shit-strong characters. Legit strong characters almost always (regardless of the genre) gain creation abilities-even if its just basic elemental creation.
        Like strong characters could, by spending a bit of time, make biomes, terraform planets, and train armies of super OP characters.
        Legit all the boons of being a core with non of the downside
        I, similarly to the OG commenter, dont get the appeal of this genre
        as a core u cant even interact with the world around and your influence is limited to your dungeon, which means that u have no impact on the world or settings that the story takes place in. Its like being a shonen MC and having the author force feed u villain encounters cause MC is too incompetent to do shit himself (different premise but same general feeling)

    Awesome dungeon core story that doesn't seem like the mc will be kind to some humanoids nd obsessed with gaining human form. These stuff tend to ruin good dungeon stories cause there a big difference with how dungeon lord nd core stories should be. Anyway a must read.

    the best work of this release.
    The analogy is a dungeon without a system, even a little better. Mc is an arrogant reckless dragon whose nose reaches to the sky, but tolerable
    At the beginning it was said that Mc can upgrade the species himself, add armor, increase growth, poison. after that, everything was forgotten, as if it wasn't written here, it's even better, but for the pizdezh dislike

      it also seems like author forgot about the first human victim at least I am few chapters on and many days past but still no information on what happened to the little girl. This is a major red flag in terms of plot holes for me.

          This is a dungeon restriction because intelligent species are blessed by the gods and protected like merlows. it was said about this (although this does not apply to kobalds and goblins for some reason, but it is not worth steaming over it)

            yeah, author finally addressed the issue when the merrow were killed. it does make sense, but I wish author said that with first human. It was very annoying how he ingored those kills and barely spoke what happened.

    I don't understand the behavior of the main character. Why didn't he block the passage to the cave from the very beginning so that people wouldn't get to him? And most of the problems that he has appeared because of his behavior. For example, why put the core on a pedestal, instead of protecting it with walls?

      I believe later on it is explained properly, but basically cant put walls around the core as otherwise the mana would not spread to the dungeon floor, he would be basically cutting connection to his own dungeon. On a similar note, closing the door on the outside would also affect him, and he was hoping that everyone else is stupid and does not know that he is a dungeon.
