    abolished thirty years ago by Dumbledore due to a lack of interest. It's funny how nobody noticed that the man had a monopoly on Alchemical elixirs, meaning that he controlled their prices and their availability.
    He said he had no money to make the potters move in the first few chapters. Seems like he was lying. Like he always is.

    In the book, I think Snape would write the full recipe of the potion they are making. All the students had to do is to follow the instruction given on the blackboard.

      You may also remember that Harry's potion ability got boosted just from reading the old notes of our half blood Prince. It does make sense that the instructions might not allow any deviations and that Snape would not teach enough for anyone to improvise / savage / or innovate. The instructions might even be not complete, since I remember from the film that Harry once squished some bug instead of slicing it, and his potion was better for it.
