    Divine aspects truly are cheats, every single one of them. I wonder if Saint chose nothing and darkness because that helps Sunny the most, since it's counters for shadow.

      I thought the same thing at first, because they really are his biggest problematic elements during the story.

      But I have a theory that the ability requires a connection to source elements. For stone saints it's gems like the one from the knight from the FS and the heart of darkness.

      So Saint can swallow the gems, while Sunny always had 1: shadows as his source element to draw from, and 2: the flame of divinity burning in his soul which is another source that requires the shadowed [Soul Flame] ability to draw from it.
