Ok that doesn't make sense. When was it confirmed that daerion only ever entered a nightmare and not the real tomb? The only time I can think of that being revealed is when sunny talked to windflower but I don't remember it. And it also doesn't make sense because if he did enter a nightmare then why did sunny and co encounter them? First of all, in order for them all to enter a nightmare they need to be if the same rank which daerion was a supreme while the others were transcendent. If they entered their own seeds daerion and windflower should have never encountered sunny. The tomb is very weird in how it dealt with time but it still doesn't make sense because if the nightmare took place when sunny and neph entered the tomb, he would have to be in the real tomb for him to be in the nightmare. There is nothing saying there can't be multiple nightmares of the same point in time but all nightmares of that time aren't connected.
I'm not great at explaining but the best analogy I can think of is a planet and it's moons. The tomb of Ariel is the center plant and the nightmares represent the moons. Just because all the moons orbit the same planet don't mean they are all connected.
I think this is one of those unreliable narrator moments where sunny is wrong.

It's not on you, it's just poorly phrased there. I had to reread those lines like 3 times to get it.

That was because there would not have been a Twilight in the true Tomb of Ariel — Daeron's people had only entered the Seed of Nightmare, after all, not the actual pyramid.

It was only the Serpent King himself and a small number of his champions who had.

Double had, 'had only' then a line break and a referential had. I'm not literary enough to explain why but it's definitely a clumsy couple of sentences to read.

He talked about this Beast being the supreme commander. Beasts, as we all know, aren't known for their intelligence. I think he simply ignored the Spirits' personalities and emphasized their strength. That would be typical of Azarax.

Azarax said that spirits and divine beasts led the conquest. So either a sacred beast is just a spirit with no intelligence, or a noble creature

Not sure what to expect really. Whether something intelligent and sinister like Doubt(Mothra), a silent menace like Slayer, or an op meme lord like Azarax.

I am keeping expectations low because Moth was surprisingly a really fun conclusion to that arc.

Perhaps. He might even glimpse a few seconds of it, which can be a lot considering time is irrelevant in a battle between Sacred/Cursed beings and those above them.

      Chapter name Halfway there

She remained silent for a while, and then said:

“I did stab you, after all. So, naturally — I'll help you, Cassie. Until Sunny and Nephis come back."

      Cassie smiled. and nodded.

"Until Sunny and Nephis come back."

      ***

I think it's gonna be a long journey.
My guess is they challenge 5th nightmare in ToA after or before they defeat VTB, but they'll find a way to remove asterion from everyone's mind before going to 5th NM and Cassie and Mordret will defeat dreamspawn.

On the one hand, I want Sanfis to return from the tomb as Sacred and quickly challenge the fifth nightmare. But on the other hand, I want Mordreth and Cassie to become Sacred along with Sanfis, so they must enter the same nightmare. Ideally, this would be a nightmare in America.

I’m honestly expecting Nephis to square UP after she gets her memory back. If Sunny had issues with being her slave, even if that was for the apparent greater good of his life, then this feels like an amazing opportunity for the reversal of that betrayed feeling for Nephis. I do think, or at least hope (for my own sanity), that she’ll at least come to terms with it, even if it’s not forgiveness.

I’ve never done a proper character analysis, but this is a fun rabbit hole of thought. A few possibilities for her reactions include an emotionally charged fight, her at least half heartedly trying to kill him, an emotional reunion, a heated argument, or her completely detaching from him. There are more possible futures, but those are the ones that resonate with me as most likely.

Then I guess we can talk about her motivations for feeling any one of those ways. This’ll include the original betrayal of him leaving them to fight the final trial of the third nightmare alone, but honestly I’m drawing a blank after that. I can see derivative concerns from the original betrayal; he ultimately chose his freedom over the group, after all. However, a case can definitely be made that his and Cassie’s stunt set the stage for them to take over humanity; both opposing factions being unable to use their seers had to have been a MASSIVE advantage to their plots, on top of them forgetting about the powerhouse that is Sunny. Plus, they will be about to recognize that he was always close, and still helped the party even when they didn’t know it. I do hope they appreciate some of the depths of despair Sunny went through. And that he eventually did decide he’d rather live as a slave to the people he cares about than unbound to anything.

Speaking of, it would be mad interesting if Nephis used his shadow bond immediately after she got her memories of him back. It would infinitely complicate the situation, bringing back Sunny’s paranoia and anxieties, but it’s always a possibility.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure there will be a heated argument (maybe in the form of the emotionally charged fight) then an emotional reunion. It kinda doesn’t make sense for Nephis to stay too mad, even if emotions are often not linked to logic. Iirc, she wanted somebody to stand as her equal and to share the burden, which Sunny has done, and she’ll understand why he couldn’t tell her about his past up to this point.

That does bring up an interesting case of whether the Union of memories before and after the Great Forgetting will cause painful melding of the party’s before and after personalities. For most of them, it won’t be that dramatic, but Mordret made an excellent point in that Cassie’s memories are in tatters. Sure she is still plenty competent and acts through her past self basically programming her future self, but there’s gotta be a moment where the reunion of her mind almost breaks her. I can also see the reunion of her mind allowing her to know about some great calamity that will strike humanity very soon after the dreamspawn is dealt with. I recognize this has detached from the original prompted response, so apologies; there’s just so many interesting plot points to speculate on

As a small end note, I do wonder whether the awakening of the dream god will be accelerated by Sunny entering the mind of the people again with such momentum. I mean I guess he’s still “dead” to the public, but there will definitely still be fans, right? Also I do think Mordret will be pissed (and morbidly amused) when he remembers Sunny.

I expect more of an emotional smackdown from Neph against Sunny instead of a fight between them because I don't think he would fight back. As you said, it's really fun and interesting to think about the reactions and the changing of the relationship as he reclaims his fate. The whole situation is very MESSY, so you don't really know what to expect of how EXACTLY they react, but no matter in what way they express their rage, frustration, sadness, love, hope, etc., it would be within expectations in a sense.

So far Sunny and Nephis have been too powerful. I think the author will weaken them both so that it resembles the situation on the forgotten coast. Nephis no longer has the backing of his domain and if Sunny loses any avatar against a sacred being it's gonna be Big nerff.
