    There seems to be a lot of support for the idea that VTB might be Sunny's 7th and final Shadow. I am not fully convinced...

    Sunny is already on the verge of advancing to the next stage of shadow dance. Reclaiming his name will not only finally allow him to advance but also allow him to use shadow dance to its full potential. This means Sunny will be able to use shadow dance to copy abilites and Serpent will advance in rank, allowing it to copy VTB as well. Fighting Asterion is the perfect chance to show off these new abilities.

    Sunny's shadows seem to losely represent the 7 deadly sins.
    Pride (Saint - Often depicted / described as proud. Looks down on Nether's lesser creations)
    Mimic (Greed - Creates "money" i.e. soul coins)
    Serpent (Envy - Copies abilities and forms)
    Gluttony (Fiend - Literally has the moniker "ravenous")
    Wrath (Slayer - Wrath so intense even the shadow realm couldn't unmake her)
    Sloth (Nightmare - Puts creatures to sleep)

    That just leaves... lust? lshock
    Uh oh... Nephis won't be happy with this next one...
    But more importantly, from what we know, VTB doesn't seem to fit this category very well...

    Let me offer an alternative. It sounds a little bit crazy but hear me out on this one. What if it's Broken Sword? Broken Sword fits the pattern perfecty! In Jest's memories we see how Broken Sword pursued Smile of Heaven almost relentlessly. Additionally, it is implied that his aspect ability which allowed him to percieve and comprehend almost anything was applicable to social situations and made him relatively popular... However, the strongest evidence for this theory is this... Although we don't know much about him, we do know one thing about Broken Sword. He was "murdered" due to posessing Weaver's lineage, the last fragment, the only one Sunny hasn't collected, Shadow weave. And what does shadow weave do? Well, based on what the other weaves do, it almost certainly enhances the durability of the owner's shadow. I believe that although Broken Sword "died", his shadow survived. It continues to roam without a master to this day. How improper. Sunny will collect it together with the last fragment of Weaver's lineage.

      Just to play devil's advocate, there is an argument that vtb could be lust. We often depict lust as sexual desires but in reality it's just desire as a whole. We know vtb is always lusting after things it considers pretty so I wouldn't put it past g3 to play with the definition like that. Also it just fits his track record for shadows he's claimed himself. Nightmare, Mimic, Feind, and Slayer were all technically his adversaries he had to fight and kill before claiming them as shadows. The only one who he didn't have to kill himself was serpent and it was gifted by the spell

          I will counter that by saying the idea of the seven deadly sins is bullshit I the first place lol. Like you said they're all simply desire when you boil it down. Religious ideologies shaped and defined then as we know today. Also I'm thinking about it from a narrative perspective. The story doesn't need the pointless relationship drama of him having some stupid "sexual" shadow who's always lusting. Plus the vtb just fits so well for him becoming a shadow just like Feind nightmare, mimic and the others. Not to mention that the vtb is likely going to have to die anyway for sunny to reclaim his fate.

      Now we can guess why Broken Sword was the Best Swordsman. The Shadow Weave must have given him an extra sense of shadows like Sunny's Aspect. He was a genius of combat and the shadow weave gave him an edge over everybody.

      Yeah Sunny will claim Broken Sword's Shadow like the other shadows in the Forgotten Shore. But I don;t think he will keep it as his Last Shadow. Sure he is Powerfull, but he is Sunny's Father-in-Law and imagine Nephis seeing her Father's Shadow Fight every time he summoned. I don't think Sunny would keep Broken sword in his Soul and would give him a Proper Rest after claiming the weave.
      As for the Last Shadow, VTB also fits the category of Lust(over material things), as it collects every 'shiny' thing it likes.

      I guess for the “feels” it fits but it’d his last shadow but also average power wise. Plus does he want Nephis’ dad shadow running around everywhere. It seems too weak and too weird for me. The VTB seems to fit Sunny perfectly and birds can be full of lust lol. Especially Vile ones

        I admit it is a stretch... but I also don't think it is tooo much of a stretch. I maybe didn't evidence it well enough though. It is worth mentioning that Song described him as practically insane, desperate to grow stronger and challenge the 5th nightmare. He threw caution to the wind, jeopardized all of existence and abandoned his 3 year old daughter all for the sliver of a chance that Smile of Heaven might still be alive. If we allow ourselves to broaden "lust" to be not just carnal desire but rather longing for human connection, I think it holds weight.

        The real meat of this theory though is not the whole 7 sins arguement but rather that he possesed shadow weave. It could very well be that neither of Nephis's parents are completely gone.

        I should have made it clearer in my comment, but the idea that his aspect ability can be applied to social situations among other things is not my observation but Jest's. He considered this possibility after observing him interact with the other awakened during a social gathering. As for how they got the drop on someone whoose aspect granted enhanced observation abilites? Your guess is as good as mine.

        He is weaker than VTB but he is still a supreme shadow and the strongest of his cohort. I don't think he is so weak that that would be an issue. The issue of him being Nephis's father? Yeah... It would be weird...

        There are certainly holes in this theory and I could definitely see VTB being his final shadow. It fits. All I am saying is that we should keep an open mind, I wouldn't be so hasty to conclude VTB is definitely the final shadow.

      But I doubt Sunny will keep broken sword as his shadow after getting shadow weave. It's seems to disrespectful considering that's Nephis's father.
      He might just release him like he did with condemnation
      On the point of VTB, he could make it a shade like he did with Cursed Tyrant,Doubt and still use it's power.

      I completely agree with that, if I may add. Eurys tell Sunny about how his shadow is incomplete because they're still bound to him and didn't have a free will. And why would Sunny give them free will? Them being completely obedient will be the best case for him.

      But with Broken Sword as his shadow, he will reconsider giving him free will to make Nephis happy. And after that Sunny will consider liberating his other shadows

    There’s too much of a parallel between these characters to be merely a coincidence

    Cassie had her eye stolen by Asterion, Weaver had his eye stolen by VTB

    VTB was hated by both the Gods and the void, Asterion wants to rise above all deities and even consume the void (and the same would be said for the Gods if they were alive still), hence it isn’t far fetched to say Asterion would be hated by them too.

    Asterion somehow knows about the Tomb of Ariel and what transpired in there, and the only way this could be possible is if something inside the nightmare got out and told him, which is limited to the cohort, Mordret and VTB. Mordret wouldn’t have told him, the cohort obviously wouldn’t have told him, so that only leaves him learning info from VTB.

    There’s definitely more parallels between Cassie and weaver too, but I’m focusing on Asterion for now.

    Tbh, I kinda question if it is possible to leave the estuary once one gets there. Even sacred creatures have a degree of difficulty with manipulating time, and once you are in the estuary aren't you always there because of the fact that it is a time singularity? This would also explain why VTB never left.

          I mean, not every ability is a combat ability. Sunny has been able to hide in shadows and remain undetected as a Dormant Beast against Fallen creatures successfully (only notable exception i know of is Black Knight who hard counters.) Maybe VTB is itself fateless and therefore harder still to detect? No one ever said that VTB fought the demons/gods, only that they hated him.
