      No it is just the spell being a troll. With last chapter they gave a perfect description for some ways the flaws affect people:
      Sometimes, a Flaw would be in direct opposition to the very core of a person's identity. Sometimes, it would take something they held dear and twist it in a hideous way. Sometimes, a Flaw had nothing to do with one's personality, but was instead connected to the nature of one's power, or even their fate…

      Like for example, Sunny, as you mentioned had to deceive and manipulate his way in order to survive the slums, so his flaw opposed his identity. Kai’s allowed him to see pure truths, and this made him find out a lot of things he didn’t want to hear, which meant that as a singer, he couldn’t trust many anymore for that same reason.
      Now for Rain, I believe hers came into play as a line of fate, as a soldier and a hunter, the only way to survive would be to kill. This will most likely mean that they spell wants her to engage more with her aspect once she gets it of using True names making her basically survive off of it
