      I was wondering the same thing and my feeling is that it has to do with the waking world being a divine realm. Somehow either the war god needed to give permission to powerful souls to exist in his realm or his absence made it so. Or something along those lines.
      Whereas the dream real is a patchwork world existing due to the nightmare spell resisting the release of the void so there are no laws or limitations.

    Also now that i thought about it the highest gate waking world experienced was category five means a gate guardian would be atleast cursed demon or above class, how come if a being which is also a type of corrupted deity have no problem roaming on earth while sovereigns have problem entering earth...

    I wonder what the true reasoning is for the supremes not having easy access to earth. We already know that the spell isn't necessary to power and that earth and the dream are both divine realms. Maybe simply due to the root of their domains being citadels and territory in the dream realm? Maybe Asterion has no such troubles existing on earth because he has a less physically grounded domain. Or maybe it's because the dream realm is already in the process of absorbing the war realm and anyone strong enough is being pulled along first.

        Seems pretty obvious that having a fate is too important to skip out on, as it grounds you in reality. Plus, gaining a new True Name and restoring his fate will officially be his decision, rather than him being a slave to it.

        Also, he f#cked with the future plenty in these last few years as a fateless, that'll count for a lot. So it wasn't a waste.
