The author really like making wise and kind characters then killing them off after they meet sunny , causing him emotional scars . First noctis in second nightmare then anake and now Wind flower.
Another thing was that they were all saints too , i just feel he'll kill saint tyris just to cause Sunny more grief.

It’s funny how Sunny (and other readers) always claims he used to be extraordinary craven, yet never has actually shown himself to be anything less than selfless. When given the opportunity between leaving Cassie for dead or risking his life to save her in the Dark Sea, he helped Cassie. He seems to be incapable of giving himself some credit.

Remember he was always the good guy from childhood. It's just his circumstances and life choices made him do bad things in order to survive in the outskirts, for which he claims to be a bad guy. If you remember the Forgotten Shore arc, the problem he had with Nephis was because of him feeling bad about the lives of those other kids.

If the police officer didn't told him to imagine those people in the first nightmare to be illusion, then I am sure that he would be hesitant to kill them.

The flaw of his is very fitting. He was always lying to himself much more than to others. The spell made him truthful to himself. These people reading the novel couldn't understand this at all.

I really thought that the mad prince would be easier to deal with because of his weakness in his true name, but it turns out he already has a master.. Yes, it made sense that when Neph died, his depraved friends would quickly make Him a slave, but I still hoped that at least something would be easy.

This arc could’ve been peak if the beginning was a lot faster (expect for the moments Sunny and Nephis interacted with each other those were needed and were also enjoyable )

"I won't ask you for another oath, Sunless. But… make me a promise, if you will. That you'll conquer this Nightmare, indeed."

The mad prince still kept his promisses even after beeing corrupted.

Also if mad prince killed neph it means she kept the promise of not giving him order to the end.

Not being able to break promises is another flaw, Quentin(iirc) from his Antarctica cohort had it. Meaning he can go back on his promises, but to give them in a first place he needs to believe that he's saying the truth agreeing to it
