      No need to make it too complex. Just think of the river as blood, the serpent as white blood cells, and Sunny as foreign microbe. Serpent is after Sunny cuz it wants to eliminate the microbe. Even the Turtle could be a white blood cell, but another virus called Nephis mutated it from inside, so it had to be eliminated. mmmk

          To them traveling through the river is just a travel. Maybe if they could leave it where they want they would appear in diffrent point of time in the outside world.
