        So, cuz he’s Ascended, a Fallen creature he kills (cuz it’s at the same level as him) gives one shadow frag for each core. For each higher rank, that number doubles. So he’d get two frags per core for Corrupted, four per core for Great, eight per core for Cursed, and sixteen per core for Unholy. This is a Corrupted Terror, which is two frags per core and six cores, so twelve frags in total from that kill.

        (My reasoning for this is based on every kill he’s gotten so far where the shadow frag count was explicitly stated, but for an example, the Spawn of the Vile Thieving Bird on the Forgotten Shore gave him 64 (Great Devil btw). At the time he was a sleeper, so one per core for dormant, two per core for awakened, four per core for fallen, eight per core for corrupted, sixteen per core for great. Four cores (devil) times sixteen is 64. After he awakened, Dormant creatures stopped giving him shadow fragments, and he started getting one per core from awakened creatures, two for fallen, and so on.)

          yes i believe im familiar with most of what youre saying, the explicit formula used is fragments/shards gained goes like rank^2 * class. when it was first states that sunny cant earn fragments from lower rank creatures i assumed that the rest would remain unaffected rather than a "shift" you talk about (currently sunnys formula would be (rank-2)^2 * class for creatures at his rank or higher).

          i thought this would be fair to a certain extent since the required number of shards increases with rank, but now its as if hes getting f#cked over twice?

          furthermore when sunny learned about it he commented that he was disappointed because he couldnt level up by beating creatures below him, NOT because his leveling up process would be slower.

          lastly it was a bit harder to check since we havent seen the counter as much in the latest arcs (or i missed it), though it annoys me that G3 would just assume we understand this without stating it explicitely.

          anyways you are probably right as most of the other commenters seem to agree with you

          this must be another reason as to why his leveling up in antartica felt so slow haha
