The fact that there are creatures capable of controlling pure darkness does not mean that all pure darkness is created by them.. Itโ€™s a long tunnel through a mountain, itโ€™s perfectly logical for there to be natural pure darkness (in fact, it would be more disturbing and suspicious if there wasnโ€™t pure darkness in this tunnel), because there is no light source in the tunnel and artificial light can only travel so far and light up only so much.

    And that is exactly the problem here, and why he feels so uncomfortable; they failed to find any evidence of dangerous Nightmare Creatures living here, including evidence of its absence, Like Sunny said.
