    Think of it this way gang: Shadows are the absence of light. Darkness is the opposite of light. There is a slight difference. Basically, in other words, light=1, shadow=0, and darkness=-1.

    This darkness and shadow stuff again. It is more of a philosophy than physicality.
    Maybe, darkness is complete absence or non-existence of light while shadows are absence or gaps in light created due to an obstruction?

      Whatever it is... Shadow is still the Lesser version of Darkness.. he should embrace it, instead of feeling afraid.... when there is light, Darkness become shadow. When there is absence of light, shadow return to darkness. Darkness exist due to existence of Light. If their is no Light, no one will know what Darkness is. They will go accustom to that environment of Darkness, may even believe that is normal, see, walk, etc.. idk if Shadow is there if we can see in the darkness... welp it is us who define Light and darkness, even if light and darkness exist, if we don't exist, no want will know what light and darkness is... what the hell am i speaking!

        No, True darkness and shadows is actually opposites and will never mix. Shadows exist where light is not present, they complement each other well and will always exist together. True darkness however is itโ€™s own element, shadows has no place in True darkness because shadows only exist alongside of light. And light will never exist inside True darkness.

        Think of it as like how wood and fire are not exactly similar and is almost exact polar opposites but will complement each other quite well but fire will never exist inside water.

      I think the key thing here is that the darkness here is elemental i.e it is not the product of absence of light but of something else. I think this darkness is related to the period before anything existed, a time of absolute chaos and nothingness. That will explain why even a shadow cannot sense it.

      Sunny explain this in Forgotten Shore (although I would like to see more of this phenomenom)

      Basically shadow is very related to light. Shadow is the absence of light or the obstruction of this, like the shadow of a person (the body blocks the light so the shadow appear)

      Meanwhile darkness has nothing to do with light or shadows, it is a element completele different of them, that's why Sunny can't see through darkness.

      However there is something strange because in Forgotten Shore it seems like the light of Nephis could counter the darkness

      In reality darkness does not exist, we only call a place where light failed to reach dark. But in reality it is just hard to see because of the lack of light. True darkness(we use the word true because of what I mentioned earlier that the we use the term dark for whenever light is lacking) in reality is the antithesis to light, even if light reaches it, it will stay dark. Like how oil and water will never mix, True darkness and light will never fuse.
