    If it is just theoretical work, why do it at such a remote location? Surely, a small outpost with minimal personnel could send all the needed data to a more central hub. It does not make sense for such a large compound to be so far away from other settled areas and so close to danger unless the work was highly secret, dangerous, or experimental.

    Wouldn't that be a genius or more like an obvious thing to do or create a serum or tablet that could forcedly put an awakened to sleep if they're in a predicament with no chance of survival? Atleast they could still live in the other world and have a chance of becoming an ascended and get a new body.

    Was the chain gates planned intentionally to reduce the numbers and to completely abandoned earth with no other options then?

    These sovereigns wanting to rule the land yet takes no consideration that to conquer 5th seed would most likely still needs subordinates with equal strength.
    To eliminate broken sword and now fighting for the throne would not just lengthen the wait to produce another sovereign within the clan but also would endanger their own stronghold in the otherworld.
