      It can only evolve. take Sunny for example, at first he couldn’t do anything with shadows but become one and sense it now he can control them. Nephis couldn’t control flames perfectly but now she can. It evolves in ways that make in self stronger but doesn’t change its core aspect.

      yeah sunny's did after the first nightmare, and then recently kai's aspect also evolved to the ascended rank. the specifics weren't mentioned, but it was said that all of his aspect abilities had subtle differences and improvements after evolving that would require experimenting.
