this either means the spell can very accurately predict the future based on fate, OR the nightmares are connected to the past which is the one i believe in. the thing is if the person in the description is the original shadowspawn it won't be possible, because how would the shadow spawn know what the chest was and he terrified of it? sunny knew because he had killed the mimic in the future, the original shadowspawn had no way to know. even the souls and shadows in the nightmares are real, like sunny literally had two solvane shadows. i don't know how but the nightmares are probably real

  I wad actually about to make a comment about this very misunderstanding. What people forget about the nightmares is that when you enter, you're taking the place of someone else who experienced that event. The spell has them replace someone who's as similar to them as possible both physically and mentally. Of course nothing is perfect but the tapestry of fate is yet to be unbroken here so the accuracy is impressive at worst. The spell does this because it's goal is to break fate itself. It rewards awakened based off how much the nightmare differed from the actual events of history. Knowing this, we can reasonably assume that the shadow creature sunny inhabited survived the confrontation with solvain(?) the same way sunny did and encountered noctis in the same way. Of course that creature didn't have the blade so noctis had to make the deal with weaver still, but it's not unreasonable to think they still interacted.

    they did interact but the original shadowspawn could not have had a reaction same to sunny to the mimic, cause he wouldn't know what it was . Anyways i don't believe the nightmares are real theory anymore, I do think that the spell could perceive the whole tapestry of fate before it broke, but the nightmares. I think that because the forgotten god dreams it, his dreams are real like reality itself

      The spell can probably perceive the tapestry of fate given it's weaved with some of those strings of fate itself so it is entirely possible that the dialogue is from sunny and not the original shadow spawn but honestly it's impossible to tell.
      
      Anyway, I hate to sound like a total dick and correct everything you say but I'm just taking the opportunity to ramble about how it works. The nightmares are "real" but not to the extent that they change reality. It's real in the sense that the things they experience are real because not only can they die, but the creatures they kill must actually exist. This is known from Sunny's shades. If the creatures weren't real, the king of the mountain for example wouldn't be in his soul sea right now. But it's also for that exact same reason we know that the nightmares don't change history. Sunny returns to the forgotten temple and there's evidence of the mountain king using it as it's nest for a large amount of time. The bones weren't there during his nightmare meaning it had to have happened after. Another example is how the obsidian blade was on the alter after the events of the second nightmare and Cassie saw the vision of noctis actually making the deal with Weaver meaning history is completely different from the nightmare. The tomb of Ariel is just a terrible example because it's nature is so conviluded. The time loop of the great river and the weird effect of the estuary make it so that time as we know it is basically irrelevant and therefore allows for everything that will/did happen to be possible. It's so convoluted that it gives the illusion of the events being fate. I can ramble for hours but I'll spare you and stop here.

        im not saying they affect reality tho, I just think they are as real as they are cause they are dreamed by the forgotten god. i don't think the nightmares affect reality, at least up until the 4th nightmare none affect the past. I think that the nightmares are just a way to break the corruption of the forgotten god by invading it's dreams and destroying it from within

It made me question is the nightmares really real, like are they going in past and does their actions affect it.. because that is the exact line Noctis (The GOAT) said to Sunny.
