But nothing happened. The shadow, which had raised its hands in fright, looked down at the massive blade protruding from its chest and scratched its head.

Strictly speaking, they could just go around the tree, since they already came from the other side of the hill in this chapter. But I guess there's nothing else nearby that's high enough to spend the night. FamilyGuy017

Basically from my understanding is they would have to be in range of the carapace demon in order to avoid the sea. If they are in range and it notices though they will be cooked.

The unplanned wind blast from the staff was quick and smart but this whole plan relied on luck... So while I'm not sure how smart each monster rank is, humans would've easily knew they were trying to reach the tree and were most likely near/climbed it rather than following footsteps leading it away. So imo, since they didn't really understand the monster, their plan relied on multiple variables of luck. From it immediately attacking the scavenger, to it's intelligence when it got back to the tree. But that's what happens when you literally know he has Fated plot... Unless they were trapped, I still think this whole thing was wholly unnecessary and too risky since it was avoidable. I mean even if the plan worked perfectly, they're running into a dead end, plan to hide above an "intelligent" boss monster, and hope it doesn't realize they're there. Oh well, let's see what they get and what's next.

the monster probably has seen a bunch of strange and weird abilities, one that makes people invisible could be why he was searching for footsteps and listening to noise. its actually completely logical due to how strange this place is
