    I thought he poisoned all of them. It’s just that Shifty was affected the most and then scholar and Hero has a strong body, so the affects can’t be seen yet.

    Also, Shifty and Scholar drank a lot more than Hero, so that is also another reason they were affected more.

      It was not stated that Shifty or anyone else was poisened. I rather believe that, during the arduous mountain climb, Shifty succumbed to the weight of all the rings he collected during the resource gathering.
