    I love the fact that author did not try to make it seem like the two countries have a crazy amount of friction and hated each other to the bone, but he made it tensed just enough, quite friendly relationship but very logical and enjoyable. GREAT FUCKING JOB! No segregation or promotion of a single country but rather full of positivity and unification!!!!

        Because reading about a wildly unrealistic utopia where everyone magically gets along because friendship is magic gets boring quick.

        IRL geopolitics is an easily accessible and fully established system of lore that's deep and rich in content, and is already present in most people's daily culture in some way.

        Even just lazy and incompetent references lend a greater meaning and breadth to a story.
