In the wake of the Battle of Katze Plains, the banner of Ainz Ooal Gown flies proudly over the city of E-Rantel. The Sorcerous Kingdom has entered the world’s stage to the clamour of death and devastation; the surrounding nations fearfully prepare even as they reel from its calamitous debut. Within the borders of the newly annexed realm, its Human subjects cower in their homes as the Undead openly walk the streets and stalk the lands. Yet, when a destitute noble finds herself under the auspices of an unlikely benefactor, events are set into motion that will resound over the world for ages to come.

A kingdom builder based on the events and setting of Kugane Maruyama’s Overlord. In a fantasy world where beings of matchless power are transmigrated from the arbitrary existence of a game, Valkyrie’s Shadow chronicles the lives of the natives whose reality has been turned upside down by their advent. It is the tale of a nation created by the whims of a supreme sovereign, and his unstoppable servants who each have their own, often twisted, interpretations of their Master’s Will.

There is no victory in strength; no miracles wrought from magic that will save them: only the inexorable advance of a new world order where those who secure a place of service within will find themselves turned against the world that they once knew.

[Slow buildup. Methodical storytelling with a focus on well-rounded kingdom building and character development.] Collapse

Reread during the hiatus after `BtS.Act11.c23`
I recommend this fan fiction to every Overlord fan, and you should be familiar with the original to understand the characters and how the story got to this point, which begins after the founding of the Sorcerer Kingdom. The story fills in many gaps, and I personally consider it semi-canon because all of this could really have happened in the background. There are action and battles, but it's primarily kingdom building.

If I were the author of Overlord, I would truly feel honored that a fanfic like this was written for my work.

Not only does it tell a wonderful story, it also expands and develops the Overlord lore several times over. If a list of the best fanfics ever written were made (and I’m not talking just about Overlord, but all book fanfics), this fanfic would definitely make it into the top three.

Its "slice of life"...its right there in the tag. But some blind fkers still decide on their own that the novel must be full of battles and adventures. Then they find out its not the case (ofc coz its slice of life). Then they come here, rate the novel 1 star, start ranting about how it lacks fights, tell others not to read it (like everyone else is also a blind r*tard) and think how gr8 they are about leaving a misleading review...fckers LEARN TO READ TAGS!!

A good novel but without knowledge of Overlord you cannot really understand the point. Plus this novel isn´t for people who like fighting scenes as this is mostly a description of daily life. I love this novel exactly because of this and If you don´t mind the detailed descriptions of people, places and lives with long dialogue on important topics then this novel isn´t for you.
TLDR: A good novel for in-depth readers without much fighting.

Unless you read Overlord LN, don't even bother reading. Novel is very detailed in its description to the point that it gets mundane and boring. Whole bunch of talking scenes and very little action scenes(fighting). There has to be a balance to intrigue the reader. If you like reading about people's daily life then it's probably for you. This fanfic novel(very bland) is different from the actual Overlord LN(very good), different author plus different approach. Would I recommend, no. Something to waste your time on, probably.

Did you read correctly? Because I see slice of life tag which means there won't be too many fights. Or are u retard enough to not understand what you read.

reading this seems tiring if it took the first half a paragraph to describe someone sighing. followed by excessive feathering of irrelevant adjectives and a little backward sentence structuring. Also its a lot ask of us to keep second guessing whoevers in the narrating perspective with opinions towards whomever else. cant you let us readers just relax instead decoding, editing and restructuring just to see if its worth all that effort. rantovr

If you like the Overlord novel try this one, it will amaze you.

It focus on sidecharacters (natives) of the new world and starts right after Nazarick takes over E-Rantel. Several NPCs do show up and they are faithful to the origin material.

Very well written and VERY detailed. The author definitely knows how to write and you can feel he researched a lot about the world of Overlord.

If you like the novel go and support him on RoyalRoad too.

It's a classic transmigration into the Harry Potter world style novel, with an OP protag ... but for some reason it's miles above the rest, probably because the canon events don't change as much and it's like reading my favourite novel in a whole new way.
