Wait what? The Manhwa just got completed with eng translation but the novel's translation isn't completed?! eyetwit

I had come to read the last chap/epilogue or whatever if it is better described in the novel since that part was only given 2-3 panels inside the last chap of manhwa, and this is what I find sigh

    Im at chapter 25.
This story is a bit complicated, some parts i had fun reading, and some were just plain painfull to read.
Story is shaky with many forced parts and loopholes.(and goes all in on the cliche)
Worldbuilding is not bad, some parts interesting.
    Writing style is ok.
Strong point is some innovative ideas in the story, and attention to details in some descriptions.
To sum it up, the rare interesting parts r worth the cliche and utter stupidity of the characters for now. Readable..

Maybe it gets better, but the opening chapter was kinda lame. All that hype to make the MC's dad appear like a badass, and then he sacrifices himself like that....I get that a lot of people respect that kind of sacrifice.

    I don't.

As if anyone would allow the proginy of a super elite to live. Even if crippled, this is a land of martial miracles. Who would allow such a risk to exist? The father is a fool for believing in the hearts of such power hungry individuals. I suppose it's that kind of foolishness that saw him betrayed like the idiot he is. And ultimately, led to his death, and his son's crippling.

There was a time when men of diverse countries would line up in front of each other on the vast plain, and only when they were perfectly lined, would they start shooting at their enemies in front of them, instead of hiding themselves in the woods or some trenches. Stupid, right? Yet it happened.

There was also a time when before waging a war, men would have to make a solemn declaration toward the lord of the fief, and only after a certain time would they be able to start their noble conquest, instead of simply capitalizing on the element of surprise.

Those are the way of the world, and in this novel, in those ancient times, the part about the MC's father focus on the pride and dignity of the warrior. A great warrior, for the sake of protecting his only son, after realizing that no better way was possible, decide to gamble with his own life, betting on the fact that He, by avoiding bloodshed for his enemies, would allow their enemies to not shatter their own pride (in front of each other), and showing some magnality befitting the winner.

This novel is actually well portrayed, quite contrary to your rebuke. Think about it, what are the chance that the enemy's son is some kinda of supreme prodigy? What are the chance that the guy would be a threat after they had send people to confirm that he did not practice, nor did he know any martial art? One thing for certain was that, if they still had eliminate an unharmed boy, after the father made this kind of supreme sacrifice in front of everyone... then, there certainly wouldn't have manage to earn the respect of the folks, and achieve the greater hegemony.

I find it more sad that some people, quite like yourself, criticize one of those rather few, excellent novel, which had portrayed a decent scene of self-sacrifice, without really trying to understand the underlying why, and only insult the MC's father... for not behaving like most of the third rate junk's novel.

      Aye... I'm tearing up.

No when it comes to this, its about reputation

His father sacrificed himself while declaring that promise in front of thousands and thousands of warriors. While they were shameless enough to betray the sect that protected them for a hundred years, but even they can't be shameless enough to kill a child that way. The public wrath can be very bad in some cases. Its all about politics.

And if they didnt promise then his dad would have faught. And he was just too strong - would have single-handedly finished half of their whole group of nine skies and other elites before he died. Too bad of a loss.

Now u get the point? While it seems illogical they didn't kill him, the reasons were two:
      1. couldnt refuse that promise
      2. actually wanted to politically use his presence as son of a traitor in some way - ppl can be greedy in the worst ways as u can see. Heros kill straight, while villains just looove to corrupt a good guy cuz they r greedy.

If MC lives life- it's slice of life.

so aslong as the mc isnt an undead right?

Just a general ramble not directed to anyone in particular but:

to idiots that doesnt know , pretends to know, and refuse to ask questions; slice of life are "cherished moments" genre. whoever put a revenge story on a cherished moment genre get your a55 out here!

you guys better look up the word "genre" as well. just incase you tag a novel just because its got a moment that fits said tag. Just because sawhouse horror stories or movies have young teen romantic moments doesnt mean it should be tagged romance.
