Jacob situation is kinda weird because if he killed Will or at least got someone to kill him, the rest of the people would have still been alive... but he would never have been an Augur and he would have just been mediocre at best.. so as bad as it seems, him not killing WIll was probably the best thing to happen to him... I just feel bad for Joanna and all the others who were nothing but pawns or sacrifices or collateral damage

Man I just do not like Jacob. Dude is just a coward who never really has to try and yet still gets everything handed to him. I'm kinda hoping he'll have some sorta fall in the future. That's the only way he can be redeemed in my eyes. Honestly I even like William more than the guy. William at least tries and his actions and mentality are more or less justifiable.

Have you read Shadow Slave? The character Cassie in that is quite similar to Jacob. You can’t really blame them as you just haven’t experienced what kind of a burden knowing the future can put on you. It’s fiction, which means that Jacob’s decisions are up to the author to decide, and no one is perfect.

But… sometimes that wasn’t possible. This was one reason William had to be left alive… he was too important to kill. His fate was too grand to stomp out just to save the lives of a few dozen humans who would likely never reach D-grade, no matter how harsh that sounds.

Things had worked out this time with the smith, but he couldn’t expect it to always go well – like with William - he could only do his best and believe in others. Thus was the fate of an Augur of Hope.

No Jacob you weren't the Augur yet when you decided to leave William alive. You are shit and way more worse than William because you gave those people false hope by believing in you when you already decided their fates for them to be sacrificed for William's path to power.

He wasn’t the auger before he decided to spare will, but he did become one while being next to him. So he still technically had the chance to kill him (indirectly that is bc he can’t do it himself)
