Chapter 512: Meteor

Kyle returned to the Twilight Duchy and continued working on his Law of the Meteor.

This time, he continued for five entire years, and once more, his insights slowed down.

'Almost there,' he thought. 'I just need to get the Ether flowing more naturally.'

'Everything looks perfect. I'm just missing this last step. If I can actually streamline the Meteor Ether, I can increase the power of my Meteor Ether by another 50%. That would be my biggest jump in power to date. I mean, ignoring the time I reached the Third Realm.'

Kyle was so close.

There was just one last part remaining.

Just a tiny bit more.

However, that tiny bit felt almost impossible to achieve.

'Should I enter another True Battle?' Kyle thought.

Kyle took a deep breath.

'No, I've pushed my luck too much. At some point, I will make a mistake, and I will die.'

'I have to find another way.'

'Well, if sitting around doesn't help, I should move a bit.'

Kyle stood up and held his hammer over his shoulder.

The next moment, a dark-red aura appeared around him.

It looked like some flames were covering him.

In the past, his flames had been brighter and bigger, but that was for the same reason why Nobodies seemed so much more bombastic and impressive than actual Transcendents.

He simply hadn't had enough control over his Meteor Ether to properly compress it.

'Let's try something,' Kyle thought.

BANG!

Then, he took to the sky at his fastest speed.

A dark-red meteor illuminated the night sky in the eastern part of the world.

Kyle's speed climbed to its peak, reaching a speed of over 25 kilometers per second.

Within just 200 seconds, he could travel from the eastern edge of the world to the western.

As soon as Kyle reached his peak speed, his Ether started to drop quickly.

Although "quickly" was a relative word in this case.

It would still take over ten seconds for his Ether to run out, which was a long time for someone of his power.

Kyle reached the coast within just a couple of seconds and continued flying over the ocean.

At that moment, he narrowed his eyes and pushed more Ether into his Law of Meteor.

His speed climbed by a little bit to 26 kilometers per second, but his Ether usage quadrupled.

This was the issue Kyle was trying to solve.

He could go faster, but the efficiency of Ether conversion dropped significantly at these speeds.

Nevertheless, Kyle continued and shot towards the west.

A dark-red meteor flew across the ocean. Within a couple of seconds, Kyle's Ether storage bottomed out, but he kept pushing.

His body and instincts told him that there was nothing left to burn, but he forced it to continue.

Kyle's Center was completely empty, but he just kept going.

Oftentimes, when humans felt like they couldn't continue, that wasn't actually true.

Soldiers on Earth, during brutal fitness tests to join some sort of special forces group, often went past their limits.

The reason why the body said that it couldn't continue wasn't because it couldn't continue.

It said that so that the body wouldn't get injured heavily via overexertion.

CRK!

As Kyle continued, he felt his muscles tear and his bones break.

With the Fragment of Organs, Kyle could convert the Ether in his Center to Biological Ether to recover more quickly.

However, he could also do the opposite.

Right now, Kyle's body was transforming Biological Ether to Meteor Ether.

Naturally, this cannibalized the Ether process that kept him alive.

Bones became thinner.

Muscle fibers broke and were converted to Ether.

Blood vessels became thinner and started leaking blood.

Yet, Kyle just continued, his dark-red form becoming redder by the second.

He slowed down a bit.

But he didn't stop.

'Have to keep going!'

Parts of Kyle's skin loosened from his body, spreading behind him.

He kept flying.

He became thinner.

His body took on unnatural shapes as his bones stopped holding his appendages in place.

'I will continue!' he thought as his mind was trying to shut down to protect the body.

'Continue!'

He kept flying.

'Keep going!'

He kept flying.

'Burn to ashes or break through!'

'There's no in-between!'

The dark-red meteor left behind a trail of blood.

'Everything's there!'

'I already know everything!'

'I just need to actualize it!'

'Do it!'

'Do it!'

CRACK!

Kyle's jaw broke, and his teeth scattered, but he didn't even react.

His hair fell off and burned away.

The muscles below his broken skin burned.

'More!'

'More!'

Kyle's speed increased.

'More speed!'

'More power!'

CRK!

A tear appeared in Kyle's Center.

He kept going.

'Faster!'

Kyle sped up, and another tear appeared in his Center.

'Become a meteor!'

Kyle remembered how he had originally taken the concept of a meteor as an inspiration.

It was finally time.

He was there!

Just one more step!

A little bit more!

'DO IT!'

CRACK!

A huge crack appeared on Kyle's Center, and it started to leak Ether.

'DO IT!'

The flames around Kyle became smaller.

His speed increased.

Eventually, just a small, dark-red film surrounded him.

It was like there was just a red outline around him.

BOOOOOM!

Kyle's speed shot through the roof, reaching speeds of 35 kilometers per second in an instant.

His eyes widened.

On the horizon, the evening sun was illuminating the world.

As Kyle moved forward at speeds he had never reached before, he just looked at the evening sun.

The cracks in his Center were closing.

His body was no longer breaking down.

Despite moving at incredible speeds, his body was recovering.

How was that possible?

That was because he was using less Ether than he was regenerating.

As Kyle continued flying, evening turned to afternoon.

His body regrew at a rapid speed as his Fragment of Organs used his superfluous Ether to heal him.

Within just a couple of seconds, he recovered fully.

His Ether recovered.

'I…'

'I've done it!'

'I've got it!'

'I've finally done it!'

BANG!

Kyle exploded forward, reaching speeds of over 40 farts(kilometers) per second.

His Ether was dropping again, but this time, he wasn't pushing himself past his limit.

He didn't need to.

After all…

'I've finished my Law of Meteor!'

    Ch 513

Kyle felt the Meteor Ether coursing through his body.

    The conversion was so smooth.

It flowed so naturally and without any inhibitions.

This was what he wanted to achieve.

'It's perfect,' he thought with a smile.

    'Finally.'

For just a moment, he stopped over the ocean, taking a deep breath.

A feeling of achievement and pride flowed through him.

It felt great to become stronger.

This was why he was working so hard.

    This feeling was just indescribable.

After some minutes, he breathed out again.

'Time to test!' he thought with a smirk as he charged into the ocean.

He rapidly shot through the ocean and reached the eternal sheet of ice near the bottom.

Then, he simply traveled along the ocean floor.

After some minutes, his instincts warned him of some danger.

He approached the danger, and almost immediately, an attack was launched his way.

Some kind of concentrated stream of water shot at him, and Kyle evaded to the side.

A moment later, he saw the attacker with his Ether Sense.

A gigantic squid, almost a kilometer long.

'A Level Four Transcending Beast,' Kyle thought.

    Kyle listened to his instincts.

The enemy was a bit dangerous, but not overly so.

As long as he treated this battle seriously, he would almost certainly win.

The next moment, several tentacles charged at Kyle.

The red film around Kyle became a bit darker, and he weaved through the tentacles.

Avoiding them was not too difficult.

'The most powerful part of my Law of Meteor is its speed and destructive power,' Kyle thought. 'If these attacks hit me, I will die, but they have to hit me first.'

There were several ways to combine Kyle's three Elements.

He had decided to forego the hardness of metal in exchange for increased speed and power.

As the tentacles shot past Kyle, he charged towards the enemy.

A couple more tentacles flew at him, but Kyle just made sudden and explosive movements to the side before continuing forward.

Then, a stream of condensed water shot at him again, but he still wasn't hit.

    Finally, Kyle reached his enemy.

    He lifted his hammer.

    Boop.

And lightly tapped the squid before flying into the distance.

Kyle chuckled as the squid tried to catch up to him.

'Don't need to kill this one. If I kill this guy, this world will lose 10% of all Level Four Transcending Beasts.'

Naturally, the squid never managed to catch up to Kyle, and some seconds later, it abandoned the chase.

The enemy was simply too fast. For the next hour, Kyle just flew through the Grand Ocean, booping every kind of Level Four Transcending Beast he could find.

'This is amazing!' he thought. 'My power has increased so much!'

Back when Kyle had entered the Grand Ocean for the first time, he had essentially been fleeing from the Winterfire Empire.

Just a short time earlier, he had needed Sebastian's help to fight a weak Nobody.

The Grand Ocean had been unimaginably dangerous to Kyle.

Years later, he managed to kill the Imperial Advisor on his own.

Yet, the Imperial Advisor had still been one of the weakest Nobodies.

The Grand Ocean had still been insanely dangerous.

Some years later, he managed to fight Level One Transcending Beasts on his own, but the Level Two and Three ones had still been far beyond his abilities.

After dealing with the lobster, he unlocked the ability to travel through the majority of the Grand Ocean. He just had to avoid the ocean floor and the coasts.

And now, he could go wherever he wanted.

The southern kingdoms, the northern kingdoms, the World Peak, the central landmass, it didn't matter.

    He could go anywhere.

    Why?

    Because he was the strongest!

Well, except for the Duchess of Twilight.

    It was so freeing!

    Nothing was a danger anymore!

    'Wait, I remembered something!'

Kyle changed his trajectory and flew towards the south.

Within just a couple of seconds, he reached the peninsula, and soon, he found his target.

As Kyle looked down from the sky, he saw a breathtaking sight.

Several big mountains in a perfect formation.

    The teeth of the Colossus.

Kyle still remembered how imposing the Colossus had been when he had seen it for the first time.

Back then, Theodor had said that he wouldn't be sure who would win between King Skysand and the Colossus.

How could a human possibly fight something this massive?

Kyle's Ether Sense encompassed the front of the Colossus.

    A Level Two Transcending Beast.

'I mean, yeah, it's pretty f#cking big,' Kyle thought, 'but taking it down isn't hard.'

'Just gotta grow to my maximum size and hit it.'

'It will lose its balance, and then, I have several ways to deal with it.'

'I could keep attacking its body until it runs out of Ether and can't regenerate anymore.'

'I could ram my pick into its side and flood it with Meteor Ether.'

'I could detonate my Meteor Ether inside it.'

'Sure, it would be a slog just due to its sheer size. I would need a bunch of attacks, but it wouldn't be hard. It's just like cutting ten pieces of meat instead of only one.'

Naturally, the Colossus also noticed Kyle, but it didn't move.

The Colossus mainly ate Ether-rich earth. In fact, one of the things it ate was the clouds of Skysand.

Kyle remembered how impossibly powerful this thing had been, and he also remembered how weak he had been back then.

    'Times have changed,' he thought.

'I'm no longer the youngster from back then.'

'Speaking of, how old am I even?'

As Kyle added up all the years he had been in the world, his eyes widened.

'Brah, I'm like 75 or something!'

    'I'm a f#cking Boomer!'

'But I still feel quite young. I feel like I'm in my prime.'

    'Crazy!'

'This doesn't feel like I'm 75. Feels more like I'm 30 or something.'

'Guess that's what happens when you look at Ether all day.'

Kyle scratched the back of his head.

    'Yeah, well, who cares?'

    'I don't!'

      Ch 514

After looking at the Colossus for a bit, Kyle went back to the Twilight Duchy and met up with Sebastian.

"Guess who's back?" Kyle asked with a grin.

"King Skysand?" Sebastian asked in confusion.

      "Wrong! It's me!" Kyle said.

"Oooohh, it's you," Sebastian said with wonder. "Riiiight, why didn't I think of that? Man, now that you explain it, it almost feels obvious."

Kyle rolled his eyes. "Anyway, I'm done. Your wait is over."

Sebastian's eyes widened, but he didn't immediately answer.

"Please tell me this isn't a joke," he said.

"Not a joke!" Kyle said with a grin. "I'm actually done!"

Sebastian released a breath and let himself fall onto his back.

"Fu#king finally!" he groaned. "It felt like foreeeever."

"Oh, come on. Waiting isn't that bad," Kyle said.

Sebastian snorted. "How would you feel if you had to kill 30 years or so without making much progress in anything?"

Kyle thought back to the time he wanted to take a break.

He had only done that for an afternoon.

      30 years?

"Yeah, okay, maybe it's a bit bad," Kyle said.

"Anyway," Sebastian said, standing up again. "What's next?"

"Talking to the Duchess," Kyle said. "I wanna know how things will go down. I mean, there's no point in staying in the Third Realm, right?"

"Sounds good," Sebastian said with an excited smile. "I'm going to get my things in order."

Kyle just nodded before flying to the Duchess of Twilight's place.

He strode through the gates and looked at the Duchess with a smile. "I'm done! I'm ready to become the Overseer!"

The Duchess of Twilight looked at Kyle for a moment.

While her expression seemed just as neutral as always, deep inside, she was shocked.

Not because of Kyle's power but because of the fact that her eternal duty as Overseer would soon be over.

      Finally, after so many millennia.

      She could finally advance again.

After a while, she nodded. "How powerful are you?"

In a way, she almost saw Kyle as a student.

She had been invested in his power for quite a while, and she had taught him some things.

"Level Four Transcending Beasts are not an issue," Kyle said. "I tested a couple of them, and I'm confident that I can kill all of them with relative ease. Speaking of, do we even have Level Five Transcending Beasts?"

"Not right now," the Duchess answered. "Level Five Transcending Beasts already know enough Fragments to condense the Law of Body. They simply need one more fight to condense it, and whoever condenses it first kills the other one and advances."

"If you want to fight a Level Five Transcending Beast, you probably need to wait a couple of decades until a new one emerges."

"Yeah, no," Kyle answered. "I've waited long enough."

The Duchess of Twilight nodded. "The power difference between a Level Five Transcending Beast and a Standard Transcendent is about as big as the power difference between a Level Four and Level Five Transcending Beast."

"If you think a Level Five Transcending Beast would be a True Battle, you can say that you are only a bit weaker than a Standard Transcendent. I can assure you that you won't be able to win against one, but maybe you would be able to escape or keep them busy for a bit."

When Kyle heard that, he sighed. "I thought there were legends of Mortals who killed a Transcendent."

"Yes," the Duchess answered, "but those Mortals have more weapons than you. They have a Complex Law just as powerful as yours, but they also have something else that improves their power."

"Some of them also know the Law of the Body, for example. If you could comprehend a couple more Fragments of the Body, you might have a shot against a Standard Transcendent."

      Kyle furrowed his brows.

He was a bit miffed that he wasn't as strong as these legendary Mortals.

In a way, he wanted to continue training until he reached that level.

Sadly, he knew that the Duchess and Sebastian were both waiting for him.

Also, he didn't want to keep pushing troubles further into the future.

He knew that he would get f#cked by the company that hired him, and he hated waiting for the f#cking's arrival.

He just wanted to get it over with.

'Also, I will have plenty of time to learn stuff when I'm a Transcendent,' he thought.

"Just to make sure, is there a way for me to increase the bonus I receive when I break through? You know, you said that every Realm gets a bonus based on the previous Realm's performance. That one."

"Theoretically, yes, practically, no," she answered. "The bonus you receive is your Core Spark. It assumes the characteristics of your most powerful Law."

"Someone who has understood a Pure Level One Law will see that it becomes much easier to use it in every way. It gets stronger, costs less Ether, and some of the attributes are incorporated into a passive function."

"Your friend will condense a Core Spark attuned to Yin-Lightning. This will substantially decrease the cost of his abilities that make use of Yin-Lightning and make it more powerful. Additionally, even his Yang-Lightning will be subsidized by his Yin-Lightning's Ether-stealing attribute."

"When it comes to Complex Laws, the Core Spark will assume whatever Ether it is composed of. In your case, your body will no longer work with Wind, Metal, and Fire Ether but purely with the Ether of your Complex Laws."

"You would only get a bigger bonus if you were to comprehend a Complex Law that's more powerful than your current Complex Law."

Kyle blinked a couple of times.

"Yeah, no," he said. "Not going to happen."

The Duchess of Twilight just nodded.

"When will you advance?" she asked.

"I can go whenever," Kyle said. "I also want to get this behind me."

The Duchess of Twilight looked out of the window.

Now that she was so close to leaving, she felt melancholic.

This world had been her home for millennia, and now, she could finally leave.

Yet, it also felt a bit difficult for her to say goodbye to her "prison".

"Give me a day," she said.

      Kyle nodded. "Sure."

      "Then, tomorrow."

      The Duchess of Twilight nodded.

      "Tomorrow," she confirmed.

Another thing crossed my mind now that we have more information about transcendents it really puts in perspective the power of champions of final fate
They can fight duchess a quasi unique transcedent not just fight if not for her momentum and even with it she is always in danger of dying
And i am pretty sure she doesn't let them have time to grow
