Very much enjoyed this - had a bit of a shaky start me having to get used to the style, most xianxia novels aren't as detailed, but after that it was pretty fun; the writing is, as always, pretty good.

Cultivation is fairly standard, with a bit of a sort-of alchemist MC, though not in the wacky sorta way of Bai Xiaochun. The MC really carries; he has a heart, cares about people, and is largely very human in a lot of ways that I wasn't expecting this to be from the synopsis, so it's a really compelling read because the guy does have empathy for people and forms meaningful connections. Not much to speak of relating his power-set so far, but he's still in the early stages and Er Gen tends to excel by the merits of the characters and the settings instead of diverse abilities.

The setting itself is pretty dark; almost a post-apocalyptic world in some ways, so I'm curious how that's expanded on and the world is built. Overall has a lot more depth to it than most xianxias do.

Would definitely recommend, the first 'Act' of this is complete, around about ~40 chapters, so I'd say at least that much is worth reading before forming an opinion.

Personally, tossing this in the Awaiting folder and stacking updates so I don't lose my mind-

Mhm, anyone know if this is worth it? The story seems like it'd be pretty fun, but I tend to prefer lighter stories over darker ones and this one seems like it's gonna go down the edgy route.

So I already caught up with the Previous Translation of chapter 663. I have already once switched from MTL 500+ chapters to the Webnovel translated version latest chapters.

Now the question comes, is it worth it to read this novel a Third time from the Start because of a new Translation?
