The Age of Mechs has arrived! Unfortunately, Ves Larkinson lacked the genetic aptitude to become a famed mech pilot. Fighting against his fate, he studied mech design in order to express his love for mechs in a different way and make his father proud.

When Ves graduated from college, he returned to a new but empty boutique. His dad had disappeared. Left with a small, newly founded mech workshop… Collapse

Reviewing at chapter 3088 or so. I give it a 2.4/5.
First off, it’s way too damn long. Most stories don’t break past 3000 chapters and are much better than this one. At the time of me writing this, the novel has 4000, and the author has stated he wants to go for 10,000. From what I can see, it’s mainly for 3 reasons.
    1. There are too many side quests. The story starts off pretty nicely. You think it’s just a weak to OP system story but centering on Mech design. But then there’s war, politics, romance, and dozens of other things that the mc originally never wanted to get into. This leads to increasingly longer buildups and much shorter payoffs.
    2. There are too many explanations. The author acts like his readers are idiots. He loves to overexplain and oftentimes, good character dialogue is sacrificed for giving information that was already well established hundreds of chapters ago. I remember one time the author wrote a gag about the mc unwittingly eating human flesh and then spent a third of a chapter explaining why his gag made sense.
    3. There is too much filler. It’s not apparent at first but later, there’ll be paragraphs devoted to asinine things like Ves’ cat playing with another cat or like the gag I talked about earlier. It doesn’t advance the story whatsoever.

Also, the MC sucks. At the start, he’s weak-willed, incompetent and naive. As time goes on, he becomes paranoid, contradictory and incredibly selfish(sometimes he’ll be just as much of a pussy as he was in the beginning). His character development from point A to point B is believable and I think he’s a realistic and well written character but damn is he unlikable.

The side characters are all pretty cool. None of them are really good but they all contribute to the story.

The romance sucks. It’s as forced as can be and while it was funny at first, it steadily grows more annoying. I never found it intolerable but I can understand why people hate the FMC enough to drop the book.

The plot is frustrating. Sometimes it’s great and I’m invested. Other times, it’s incredibly drawn out, repetitive and boring. A couple times it’s neither, but I want to take a look inside the author’s head to find out why he wrote this plotline. Just due to the pacing of the novel, it’s more often the latter two than the former.

The best thing about this novel is how expansive it is(though that’s a given with how long it is). It’s kinda like one piece with how many adventures there are. There are truly hundreds of possibilities as the story becomes less about Mech design and more about the mc’s general growth. But even that is kinda botched because oftentimes the author will state something the mc could do and then it’ll be impractical or the mc would object because “it’s not right for him.” Still, it’s fun to see other readers theorize(this novel has a pretty active fandom on this site).

The book is good but the quality steadily declines to a point where at its lower points, it’s genuinely a struggle to actually keep reading and not just skim. At its higher points, it’s a true pleasure to read though.

Haven't read this, but I've got something:

Step 1: "Why are all the good novels so short?"

Step 2: "Why are all the novels so long? I'm too lazy to read"

Step 3: "Why can't I find any good novels that are long enough to keep me reading for a long time?"

Step 4: "Oh, that's why. I don't read long novels-"

I read it, it was fine to me. Kinda boring, yes, compared to the rest of the story at that point, but I wouldn't actually call it bad...just I wouldn't of missed much skipping it whoknows
Biggest complaint is that it kinda veered way away from what the novel was (system novel about designing mechs) which was probably the biggest gripe as spoiler(?):

Oh and it was like 600 chapters long if you include the war and the...whats it called constraint ... aorna corona (?) exploration and escape the samr arc.

Well - it's not that bad (some really funny moments such as with Blind Prophets) and gives BSG series vibes, only kinda falls on the planetary surface part (between the fleet part and the Megalodon part), but other than that is okay. But the continuous absence of the MDS itself is kinda bugs me... So many toys there (such as 1 mill points 1 hour perfect invisibility that he bought literal years ago and never used) and nothing happens (.

          Yes, me too.
When escaping Vesian, it gave Battlestar Galactic vibe.
Every mini-arc was unique, like escaping city when crash-landed, deep frontier without any contact or resupply, or even detective mission when he returned, and lastly how ruler of states think and operates.
This Arc can be said as character development, these events define Ves character.

Sorry if my English is bad, I'm French... bow

A complex universe filled with secrets, original adventures, a cheat system with a mysterious past, developed secondary characters who each have their complex past, an MC progression that is interesting and unique. Without forgetting the parents of our protagonist who are full of secrets... This novel had everything to please. kef

But, I stop reading this novel at around Chapter 1800. All this because of a single mistake on the part of the author: the steady rhythm of its history is too long... crybaby

What do I mean when I say "Rhythm of history"? know It is a term I use to describe:
The speed between an event and a quiet moment in a story.
The length of an event or quiet moment in a story.
And, the length of the story as a whole.

Events allow the story to move forward, while moments of calm allow us to detail the lives of the characters in the story so that we become attached to them and feel close to them. If one or the other is missing, then the story will quickly become boring. Similarly, a story with too fast a pacing will lack too much detail, preventing readers from immersing themselves in the story, while the opposite will end up boring readers due to too much detail and story progression too slowly. reader

This is exactly the fatal mistake made by the author of "Mech Touch" finger . The pacing of the story is one of the longest I've read. Many passages should have been skipped due to their irrelevance to the story, but were left out, doubling or even tripling the length of events in the novel forwhat . In the final, one of the things that we love in a story is the discovery of a new world, but, like the tourists who visited a foreign country hanging too long, it will eventually get tired and finally we will visit another country. The universe of "Mech Touch" was interesting to discover, but I got tired of it. warmly

Too bad, because this novel had a chance to be part of my top 5, but because of its much too slow pace, it will end up joining the works that I will never finish. A fatal error that will cause many readers to flee escape , especially when hearing about the rumors that "Mech Touch" will be 10,000 chapters long... just no treat . I heard that in China they are paid by the number of chapters in a novel, but sometimes by wanting to do too much, they end up with nothing. whoknows

A novel that will be one of the best if the author decides to resume and correct the steady rhythm of its history. know

Top 1 : "The Record of Unusual Creatures"
Top 2 : "Lord of the Mysteries"
Top 3 : "My House of Horrors"
Top 4 : "The Legendary Mechanic"
        Top 5 : "I Have A Super USB Drive"

These are just my personal tastes, but each of these novels have a good story if you are brave enough to read them. In particular the one that is in my top 1, which is strangely little known despite its very original story.

              - Every character in this novel is cunning and schemes.
              - MC may seem pure evil but he always does things based on his benefits.
              - No romance bullshit
              - A plot so intriguing it feels even more deep than "Lord of mysteries"
              - Such deep philosophy on human nature, you wonder how the author even thought all that
              - Tales of Renzu which are unique
              - Side characters so good that they are better than MC's of most novels
              - No plot holes
              - No common troupes
              - Best villainous MC
P.S. : Start is slow but well deserved. There may be some scenes of gore and brutality that may trigger some peeps, but this is fiction and MC is all about benefits and losses.
