When natural disasters ran rampant, with extreme cold and storms spreading endlessly…

When the world mutated, zombies surged like tides, and eerie horrors emerged…

When the apocalypse descended, massive Devouring Abysses hundreds of kilometers in diameter began appearing around the globe…

When people looked up at the atmospheric cloud layers and saw the slowly emerging corpse of a colossal evil god…

From that day, people began to notice that daylight was arriving later and later, until the sun no longer rose, plunging the world into an unending polar night.

For survival, on that day, the Apocalypse Radio made its final broadcast to the world:

“Everyone, flee eastward—escape to dawn!”

Lin Xian awakened the [Mechanical Heart] ability. He could devour machinery to gain various mysterious skills, scan machines to obtain blueprints for manufacturing, and even use his thoughts to achieve unified control of different machines.

Thus, he found a 200-ton heavy gas-powered locomotive, towing specially modified storage, planting, production, medical, and living carriages, and embarked on a 320,000-kilometer journey along the planetary orbital rail—charging eastward toward the dawn! Collapse

There is no harem as such. Upto 300 chaps there are two girls both are in background who chirps only time to time. Mc fully focused on great cause of entertaining us.

This novel is ok, but it could be far greater.

    1. The MC's special ability looks awesome at first sight, but the author quite quickly fails to balance it. This results in a situation where the MC should be able to do things, but the author forbids him from doing so, while at other moments the MC does things he shouldn't be able to do. So, balance is thrown out the window.

    2. There is some weird types of nationalism forced into this for no freaking reason. This comes in two ways. A) Supposedly, the whole world operates under one federation, but all the good government officials are Chinese, and 99% of the bad officials are foreigners. There is only a single bad Chinese official at the level of Senator/Congressman. Let me give an example. MC and co are evacuating through an elevated train line. To go up the line, you need to use a special train elevator to go beyond the slope. The army is fighting to give time to repair the infrastructure in order to let civilians evacuate. A group of officials wants to leave on their own on an airplane and are demanding that the local guard help them. Literally the representative of those officials is a blonde chick. The only bad Chinese official we see is one within this group. Beyond the local guard, there is an interstellar army group that consists of only Chinese. The commander of that army group kills most of the high-ranking officials and the chick. The local guard, who is also only Chinese, decides to stay back with most of the army group and sacrifice themselves by detonating a nuke.

    3. We get a poor imitation of Gipsy Danger from Pacific Rim as well as Raleigh's scene of controlling the jaeger on his own. The whole thing felt really forced and left a bitter taste in my mouth.

MC was being kept back constantly by the author for no reason and the unwarranted nationalism aspects simply ruined any good feeling brought by the whole infinite train theme.

      Actually extremely valid points.

I never really considered that a multi racial cast wouldn't change the feel of the story and would really tiè the World Government Setting together.

I just thought it was the limitations of the author, like knowing Western/Foreign names etc.

I guess I'm used to the subtle nationalism with intergalactic federations having mostly Chinese and specifically Chinese cast lol.

One point is that maybe, even tho it's a world fédération, I doubt that by 2069 we'll have that many non Asians in China such that, encountering them would be normal, yet the official thing is fairly odd. I could argue similarly that local officials would still be ethnically based on a regional level yet I think at the top level of the Dawn project we should have had a wider multiracial cast.

NOT your typical- chinese apocalyptic novel with the typical protagonist getting chicks like pokémon and killing zombies to level up. But like actually FUCKING good.

      What are you on about?

From the first chapter, he essentially starts collecting chicks for his train. Also, killing "zombies" does result in level-ups.
