I love this novel

As of chapter 234, this is a pretty decent cultivation novel. I can definitely see people thinking this is boring as hell though. Most chapters has the MC just cultivating or thinking about cultivating. He has no desire to leave his home because he believes he is too weak to survive which makes most of the chapters actionless. Sure, every now and then the MC will be forced to leave his seclusion because of his master which leads to some action but it is pretty repetitive. The MC has average cultivation but because of his system, he get's OP techniques which leads to his cultivation sometimes being realms higher than his talent allows. This leads to fights pretty much consisting of MC one-shotting enemies while they mock his level.

And I do mean one-shotting. Getting to the good parts of the novel, the MC doesn't care about flashy moves or sparring enemies. His motto from early on is to cultivate the best technique he has to the highest power to insta-kill any of his enemies. I don't think there has been an enemy he has used his full-power on that hasn't been described as turning into a blood mist. The other thing this novel does extremely well is the romance. It's an extremely slow build of a romance between the MC and FMC. And it's actually done in a way that it feels like two people are trying to make the best of their forced engagement and having moments where the feelings is starting to show(especially since both characters are mostly stone-faced and not good at showing emotion). Don't be fooled by the description though. The description and title makes it sound like the engagement and the request for help are revealed within the first 10-20 chapters. It is not. The engagement wasn't even a concept until about 100 chapters in and I don't know anything about the request for help yet.

It is a bit of a slow-burn though so I'm probably going to read on and off between novels.

TL;DR
Decent SoL novel with occasional action that is a bit of a slow burn to get through. Well thought out and progressive romance. Fights are cool with ruthless MC despite being repetitive. Title and Description are for entire novel, not beginning of plot. 4/5.

I started this for the romance.

since the reviews said its great but man is it boring as hell. All the mc does is sit on his ass and cultivate the entire time.

Im nearing chapter 200 and nothing interesting has happened. the mc's personality feels robotic. I'll continue reading for now cause i have nothing else to read.

A slice-of-life fic with light dialogue and the occasional action. Reading the fic is a very calming endeavor.

The novel is truly a slow-burn. While some points may seemed nonsensical, they are internally consistent and fit in the greater narrative.

The sign-in system is pretty unobtrusive. Cultivation focuses a lot on comprehension especially at the higher levels.

Good worldbuilding with a remarkable lack of cabbages.

The romance is very cute, with the MC & FMC slowly building up their relationship. Probably the best I've read on this site so far.

At this point, I’m just forcing myself to read this because of the good reviews. It’s honestly just boring, nothings going on, as the level goes up the Mc becomes more of a coward, no interaction fight end in 1 chapter. At least I tried.

Not the worst and not the best. There is a sign-in system but you are updated on it's use sparingly. If one of your pet peeves in a novel is an MC who is seemingly at the will of others, then I would say skip this for now. 'Constantly being used' or having to follow along with the scheme of others while being kept in the dark, can be pretty off putting and still happening hundreds of chapters later. World building is pretty thin here since you can count on one hand named buildings and places, the few descriptive details right now cover his home and an inn. Romance is fine, but it seems to be the heavy focus on this novel. My suggestion would be to bookmark this and finish everything else you got queued first.
