My review for the novel FOLLOW THE PATH OF DAO FROM INFANCY after reading it until the recent daily releases (chapter 673). Read this review to help you decide if you want to read this novel.

To get started, I just want to emphasize that THIS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. why? this novel's genre isn't enough. It should have an additional "Tragedy" as seinen, drama and psychological isn't enough to describe what happens to our MC in this novel. Unless you can brave repeated tragedies being poured to his live, maybe skip this novel to save you from literal emotional rollercoaster.

PROS/CONS

(+) Main Character: Li Hao, the MC of this novel, is calm, intelligent, matured and is really likeable character. He values companionship and appreciates everything in his life. But what really makes me like his character is that he doesn't look things at face value; he judges things based on his continuous interaction with them overtime. He is also "nonchalant" against those who mocked him for his efforts, or the lack thereof . As for his talent and skills, he is REALLY FAST at his cultivation and is good at many things.

(~) Plot: This novel's plot is mixed with cliché and original cultivation fantasy tropes . The storyline definitely has minor plot holes and plot armors but it was still tolerable enough to have the readers immerse with the novel. MC's perspective of his everyday life is enjoyable and refreshing to read. Only thing that I would really criticize about is the tragedies that happens to our MC. I stand on my opinion that it was really too much that I think it could put casual readers on distraught. Not recommended for people not too much into tragedy genre.

(~) Side Characters: While not a perfect 3-dimensional ones, they are still enough of a side characters to help the readers immerse in the story. Though the thing that I really noticed is that

(~) Pacing: Pacing of this novel is a bit fast, and I think that it really affects the quality of the novel. Main character's details about his choice and decision are really well thought and well written. But the plots and side characters have noticeable dive in their quality.


TL;DR: FTPODI has well written MC but everything else has flaws. Definitely recommending this to targeted audiences (those who like common cultivation fantasy troupes with a bit of originality and a lot more tragedy). (3.5/5)

Chaps from 145 to 165 re Marvelous - JUST PEAK

Meh, mc has ultimate cheat to just grind xp in peace. But literally most of novel is just desperate fights where mc often doesn't even have any advantage. Honestly he's just suicidal.

The novel was somewhat enjoyable until the part where the parents come back into the picture.

I read up to 400 chapters and I can only say this novel is actually really good While the start seems pretty generic and the translations make it a bit hard to read, the emotional development is one of the best I have seen. It takes a while to get going but when it gets there, it is masterfully done

moments that confuse me in this novel: 1. poorly written cultivation realms. 2. it is known that already in the divine journey realm or whatever it is, the life expectancy is more than 1k years, but here already at 70 years old people with a higher level are grandfathers and grandmothers, which is illogical. 3. his golden finger is also strange

I don't care what other's say about this but this is a very good novel. The story is unique, the pacing is excellent, doesn't bore us with the info dumps, always taking us to the next part of the interesting storyline. Yes, it is a little heavy on the emotions whenever we talk about the parents, but that situation is masterfully handled too.
A truly unique mc with a refreshing personality. A somewhat above average world building. Certainly interesting power system and a cheat that requires more out of the mc as the power creeps up, so it is always at least a little challenging. Not every thing goes the mc's way. no sudden treasures that help with the situations only the cultivated powers. and the cheat doesn't just become irrelevant the more the story goes on.
