    Good novel , different type of novel where MC isn't just some one who only kills when someone tries to kill him , this MC is just straight up ruthless and as long as someones death benefits him then he will kill them , good concept of a true villain also showing his wiseness of over 500 years by sometimes ignoring people who plot against him such as his uncle / auntie , only down side of this is that I've read around 300 chapters and anytime he does something he just plots against people and rarely actually fights , like MC probably has a Bullshit talking GU as his vital GU or something .
    Overall a good 4/5 but just not enough real action just mainly plotting.

    Just read it...i don't care if you are bored of the long environment descriptions in the earlier chapters and what not, just read it, it doesn't disappoint at all. Of course, be warned that this ain't some MC that will be a whimsical hero or anything of the sort, you are following a villain or more accurately someone who will do ANYTHING for their goal and i mean that in a literal sense. If you do manage to read it and start liking it...it only gets better, trust me, you won't see the plot twists on the plot twists of the plot twists coming and that is an amazing feeling indeed.

    This is definitely a great novel with excellent concept, and destroys cliché with logic which is amazing, but the level of apathy is just off-putting for me. I'm gonna have to stop reading, I've read all the way up-to chapter 227 but can't anymore.

        That's what gives the character a sort of redeeming quality in my opinion. For his goal he has sacrificed all material pleasures and spiritual ones except reaching his goal. He has given up love, friendship, sexual pleasure and all sorts of things for his goal. I find that gives him the right to do what he does. If he did what he did without giving up all that I wouldn't like the story because it feels unreal. He actually suffers in the story which gives some character and depth to it rather than being wish fulfilment. He is overpowered not because of circumstance and plot armour rather because of his mindset.

            It is worse than that, this is a very anti govern novel in general, but it directly criticizes the Chinese Government - If you've read to a certain point you come across Heavenly Court. If you think about it, they are expansionist, aggressive, domineering, claim to have the mandate of heaven and destiny to rule and govern humanity... That is the Chinese Government in a nutshell. It only gets worse as you consider they claim to be for the 'greater good' and for the good of the people, but are in fact corrupt to the core, even worse than demonic cultivators.

      It will be like that for quite some time. Not just the environment but the author gives descriptions of GU’s which we will never see and are not relevant to the plot at all. They are part of world building which usually to some extent be skimmed over. Once our MC becomes decently strong the story picks up and the descriptions decrease.

      For every volume it's a slow build up that eventually hits a point where everything comes together for a final push at the end of each vol. Then it repeats. Slow and long wait then fast and short end. The end of each vol. is really good.
