We have all heard the legends of great wizards, but do we know how those stories begin? Ardan Egobar, a young man living in a remote corner of the New Monarchy Empire, does not. He doesn't realize that this story is about him. Not yet...

In a world where steam locomotives chug along iron rails, where massive airships hover in the skies, where in the cities you might encounter orcs in suits involved in organized crimes, dwarves with cigars controlling major banks, or elves strutting down fashionable boulevards, where humans have built vast nations on the brink of a world war, almost anything seems possible.

Maybe, in such a world, even an ordinary young man, the last of the mountain hunters, might one day become the greatest wizard in history. Collapse

tldr: Currently @ ch51. Very cool. Good job.
    About the 'bad stuff':
The political intrigue -> It's serviceable, but really stood out as the weakest link. The plot, supposedly, is building up some grand conspiracy, but it's getting really convoluted even at the outset of the story and I have to bend over backwards to keep my suspension of disbelief after yet another "but actually" development. The prose is good enough (I really enjoy it a lot most of the time. Flows well. Doesn't shy from lengthy descriptions while rarely being redundant) to just play it straight (in my crappy opinion) if the author can't weave the undercurrents that well. I'm especially convinced of this after the letters from his father and grandfather -> The sentiment is there, but if you think about it, it's kind of dumb (similar to his reasons for leaving the academy).
There's a LOT of stuff I can nitpick... Like how a hunter jobs to a gunslinger... The wishy washy tribal identity... Not even a wisp of an ambition for restoring his tribe... How all magic kind of sucks (the world building is limping behind in establishing why guns didn't invalidate magic, for example)... I mean, a 9-pointed red star can't even tank 6 rounds...
Overall - liked it a lot. Would love to see it elevated above what it currently is.
Regardless, above average webnovel. Waiting for new chapters. Might even pay-pig if I don't forget.

Its... meh. Rather heavy on the flowery descriptions of everything for me. Also seems like it's a start of a soon-to-be YA novel on Kindle Unlimited. Not my bag. It's well-written, though. I'm sure many will enjoy it.

    Absolutely wonderful novel!

This is one of those books that bring me back to the early fantasy days and allows you to experience a traditional fantasy novel with completely new elements. Good progression fantasy with a realistic main character. A novel which is more along the lines of Mother of Learning than everything else you can read on Ranobes. For more thorough reviews check it out on Royal Road. An absolute recommendation from me, though i am not sure if the typical Ranobes mob will like it.

Welp will this be a massive flop or gold? Steampunk and magic systems together is either hit or miss, now which category does this novel fall under?
