I completely agree with @ElderYharon’s comment. This story is a perfect example of that—so much preparation, so much meticulous effort to make things feel more alive and to create that sense of urgency when the day finally comes, but when it actually happens, the story gradually becomes less interesting. Not only because the first 200 chapters don’t compare to the rest of the story, but also because, in terms of writing quality and character development, the author did a terrible job of making them feel like “living characters.” Obviously, we’re reading a fictional story, but it’s important that we empathize not only with the protagonist but also with the supporting characters. The author was somewhat managing to do that at first—though not perfectly—but then threw it all away. As I said, after chapter 200, you can see how that aspect of the story slowly deteriorates.

The beginning is actually something new, something you honestly don’t often see in this type of story—a protagonist reincarnated in the past who takes advantage not only of physical power opportunities but also economic ones to the fullest. It’s just a shame that the story deteriorated so much.

Another thing, which is less noticeable than the previous point but still worth mentioning just in case, is that they call the mc by the name of a character from Norse mythology, and they do the same with other characters as well. I’m not sure if it’s just me and I personally didn’t like how it was implemented, or if it was actually awkward, but at times it felt a bit—if not very... cringeworthy to read.

If you’re not strict and you don’t really care about the points I mentioned above, you might enjoy the story a lot. But if you do, then I wouldn’t recommend it.

I hope to see y'all in other reads. bow boast

This novel is a peak example on the Training-Arc effect at its greatest where the buildup becomes so good that anything else is bland the sheer enjoyment I have had with the main character solely doing urban finance novel shenanigans was because of the expectation that it was going to end up making the actual awakening even better but it is a mirage in the water when the prepping for the journey becomes more interesting than the journey itself is when you fail at writing a novel properly

Sigh, i loved this story. It was one of my fav when it was first being traslated even before WW picked it up officially but i just cant bring myself to contine reading after the day of advent happen and they went into tutorial, it was all so boring fight fight fight, nothing of the early arc cleverness. I just wannna know if this get better or its just another korean dungeon grinding troupe.

Starting a novel which has a manhwa adaptation is sometimes such a bother like I don't want to start from the beginning but to find the corresponding latest chapter is also difficult.

Got to Chapter 50 and the MC who was previously extremely smart and meticulous, became a reckless idiot out of nowhere.

He made a dumb decision pretty early on by skipping the "tutorial" 6 months after his rebirth, which basically skipped forward like 12+ years for him, leaving his body on autopilot. His reasoning didn't make sense either - he wanted to spend time with his parents...so he skipped forward 12+ years?

But after that, he goes heavy into finance and stocks stuff which was kinda confusing/boring to read at times, but a good difference from usual regressors as well as an excellent showcase of how smart and meticulous the MC was.

Even when the majority of the stuff that was being mentioned was all weird finance and political talk, it was great seeing an MC that was PROPERLY utilising his Regression to make billions.

But then, when he decides to challenge his first Dungeon in this life, he suddenly throws all of that out of the window.

He obtains an extremely rare Revival Insignia that basically gives anyone who has it a 1UP, yet he chooses to transfer it to his normal father, who isnt in any danger, rather than keep it for himself - which makes no sense given he is putting himself in danger by trying to solo a Dungeon when he is much weaker and out of practice now.

He goes into the Dungeon with some food, water, basic medicine, a sword and dagger. That's it.
He controls BILLIONS, yet doesn't gear himself up at all. We are told that electrical devices don't work in the Dungeon, but there are SO MANY other things he could have brought with him.
Bows? Crossbows? Guns? Bombs? Explosives? Etc.
But more significantly than weapons imo, he doesn't prepare ANY armor for himself. Like none.
He has been in this Dungeon in his initial life, and knows about the dangers. Yet he just wears his normal clothes.
You'd think someone with his wealth would buy some custom-made armor, or at the very least some basic stab-proof stuff.

He has a skill which basically gives his attacks lightning damage for 30 minutes, with a 1 day cooldown. Yet he chooses to wait until after his first fight, when he is injured, before using it.
Surely if you're extremely weaker than you're used to and are rusty, you would start off with your 30 minute buff to help you get back into the swing of things? Especially given his initial plan was never to complete all the quests. But nope. Not here.

His whole fighting style seems to not exist as well. He basically acts like a completely newbie when fighting them, despite previously being told that the reason he survived so long was by being slow and methodical when clearing dungeons before. It just doesn't seem plausible at all given how scared and pathetic he comes across as when fighting. He supposedly opposed some of the major figures in his past life, yet there's not even a hint of that here. He acts even worse than a complete noob here - since even they would at least bring some armor into a monster infested Dungeon. Especially if they had his foreknowledge.

It seems most people don't seem to have an issue with this, since a few of the comments on these chapters which point this out have a lot of downvotes, but I personally find this a pretty major issue.

It means you are actually noob in reading this kind of novel. You have to read the story flow not the details content of the book to enjoy the novel. If you nitpick in every detail than you won’t be able to enjoy the story

It just means they dont like fastfood, this clearly not just a minor plotpoint its just stupidity, does it qualify as a full on dismisal of the novel? No, but i dont think that was the point, its very much valid.

Seon-Hu –the MC– is one of the very few MCs that managed to work his reincarnation memories to his favor, in full. 100%. at least to me personally, i don't see even one thing he failed to change for the better. he make bread, he workout, he loves and cares about his parents and they love and care about him, he made few friends which he could entrust his life to, and he learned to accept their care and love despite his past. it's like he's the only one who successful at reincarnation business, the rest fumbles at one point or another

this is one of the complex stories where depending on your point of view (and maybe the chapters you're on), all you can see are bad things thus deepens your preconceived take which is humanity is shit, or you can look at many other aspects that makes you appreciate our species.

although as the story goes things getting darker, cluttered, desperate, and not many things left to be excited about, do remember who's always there with him. remember his Knights, his parents, believers, and of course.. The Bitch, who's always be his main strength. while he's the one who propped up the sky, they're the ones who propped up his life and sanity

    honorable mention for the FL,

Uless you are heavily interested in finance or at least able to read through many chapters dedicated to it, you probably will not like this story as the first 200 Chapters are almost nothing but that. However I will say, this is one of the best written stories I have read in months on this site.

Not saying it's the best plot wise, but you can tell the author put a lot of actual effort in the research for the plot and having an actual mapped out vision they wanted the story to tell instead of those "by the seat of the pants, stream of consciousness" style writing that's popular lately.

Can someone tell me around which chapter apocalypse type things with gates and stuff happen. Or at least when the mc gets older and comes out of the shadows. It’s pretty decent where I’m at (ch 61) but when he said it’ll be 20 years before the gates start opening I got a little scared. The aging is pretty slow so I’m wondering if he’ll keep doing business mostly and secretly go to the dungeons which isn’t bad because I’ve read a lot of business novels but I’m feeling like reading some action right now. I can wait if it’s not too long from now

. There are some time skip before that but the set up before it is very interesting. MC is one of the smartest person i've seen in a long time who take full advantage of his knowledge.
