    TLDR:

The translation quality is poor, starting from the very first chapters. The author's writing style is also quite primitive. And the VRMMO has absolutely absurd mechanics, like "you must wait in the starting town for four weeks before you can start killing monsters." Or "you must beat a dummy with a wooden sword for four weeks straight to complete the basic training and earn the upgraded beginner's sword." The author obviously creates idiotic rules just so that their autistic MC can be the only one to receive the best rewards.

Furthermore, it seems like the author has never played games themselves, never watched other people's streams or YouTube... Wait, if this was written in 2007, then maybe people in Korea only watched StarCraft streams and didn't know that you could make content about other games?

If you're a modern gamer, I don't know how you can swallow that much bullshit.

I've read this a while ago so some details are a bit fuzzy. Overall it's decent, MC is given a distinctive sculptor class in VRMMORPG and the author develops a skill set around it. The starting point is a typical Korean fair, MC is destitute and is forced to provide for his family. He earns a pittance from the various odd jobs he does until he is introduced to the game. MC slowly develops through the story; there are some funny misunderstandings due to his miserly personality at the start. The arch nemesis is of course a silver spooned resource hog who surprisingly develops alongside MC. The world is fairly interesting although I do remember the plot started to drag towards the end. I started to skim fight chapters as they were far too long, multiple chapters dedicated to one battle. The guild battles weren't very interesting, one side overrunning another due to sheer numeric advantage wasn't that interesting. The romance is a bit difficult, the author deliberately makes the MC make weird decisions which stifles the relationship. You only get a payout until the very end.

Overall I'd say moonlight sculptor is a great introductory webnovel but it does show it's age compared to newer stories. There are some very nice human moments littered throughout the story but the author does struggle balancing the real life and ingame moments throughout. The ending is satisfying but it is a struggle to read at times. If you're new to webnovels check it out but if you're a veteran the cliche tropes might put you off.

Book1&2: it is pretty good so far. Although translation could have been better, it isn’t too bad(4/5). The mc’s character is also well developed. The story is progressing greatly so far satisfied

Pretty good novel, remember reading it ages ago when it wasn't fully translated and came back to it recently. Interesting plot for a story fairly typical of this genre. I like how skills learnt in the game reflect real life which is something other books don't often touch on as much. Good side characters and fairly well written for the most part.

Unfortunately the translation really drops for random chapters at a time which completely ruins the experience for me. I've tried to read through it like I used to but there are so many novels out there I've been spoilt and it keeps just detailing me from the actual story. At times it just feels like lazy writing or translating.

For this reason I'm dropping it and giving it a rating of 7/10 imo. Worth reading if you don't mind the translation.

It's amazing. Only the end is so so. An amazing and very creative adventure.
It's almost a master piece, really. The main character is unique to me but the secondary don't. Maybe more team adventures with unique secondary characters would make it even better imo. Anyway, it's a 9.8/10 to me.

I don't know, this seems a bit overrated to me. It doesn't really have much wrong with it, it's just boring. I think I read till volume 13 or something. I never felt hype, happy, sad, just you know, reading. Idk don't really remember, it's been a long while since I dropped.

Dont hate but i really cant finish this. Novel is so damn long and the translation is a large reason im done with this. So many times characters names will change, grammar will be shit, always some korean words untranslated like i know the damn meaning of all of them. Also perspective changes so many f#cking times and the time continuity is confusing as well, given time in vr is 4 seconds for every 1 second outside but also the author would sometimes leave cliffhangers in game then switch to real life and then do a timeskip there, then switch back to the game cliffhanger. This probably works better in comic form but these issues are serious. Also this novel is so dang long and its seemingly just a lot of filler but not actually filler, which should work in a vr/game novel but i was just feeling like there was no actual direction, or should i say too many directions. Weed id say is an interesting character but it is hard to like him 25 freaking books in when hes still abusing his sculptures and still strongly has his same personality. Im not expecting an extreme personality change which people have complained about in a novel i really like Overgeared but id personally rather have the overgeared change but a middle ground would be perfect, btw 25 books in is like 2 years into real life passing. Ill say the novel isnt bad but its bogged down by problems both self created and created by outside things. I wont leave a rating because i dont feel its fair but i am dropping it, and i guess id recommend anyone interested to try the comic version of this, its probably better.
