One day, Song Shuhang was suddenly added to a chat group with many seniors that suffered from chuuni disease. The people inside the group would call each other ‘Fellow Daoist’ and had all different kinds of titles: Palace Master, Cave Lord, True Monarch, Immortal Master, etc. And even the pet of the founder of the group that had run away from home was called ‘monster dog’. They would talk all day about pill refining, exploring ancient ruins, or share their experience on techniques.

However, after lurking inside the group for a while, he discovered that not all was what it seemed… Collapse

man I'll never finish this novel I think. The characters and the world are among the best, but the story is just filler arc after filler arc.

I loved it. Translation might have completely degraded but this novel is still one of my favorite novels of all time, if not my favorite novel. First time around I stopped in mid 1,000 range since it was still uploading chapters in 2021, and in 2023 I reread it all and got around 2200 before reading daily until the translation quality degraded completely. I lost motivation to continue daily and hoped someone else could retranslate it but to this day no one has, so I recently reread it all and had to use ChatGPT+'s MTL GPT to translate from the original source for those around 1,000 chapters while also keeping up with the chapters on this site since that ChatGPT translation was not always reliable. I used my computer to do this, just had two windows open. The translation is MUCH smoother when you manually translate it this way but this website's chapters sometimes have better areas. I will explain the finer details in this spoiler ->
ALSO, I have not tried using the free version of ChatGPT to use this MTL GPT in a while but in the past there was a limit to the amount of time you can use that MTL GPT, maybe it changed now. If it hasn't there should be other AI's that are still good. It might just be more tedious if they don't have good memory. The list/guide I made and sent to the GPT every time is in this spoiler tag ->
. I normally wouldn't spend this much time and effort on a novel but this novel truly has a soft spot in my heart, and I hope others can enjoy it as much as I have. Happy reading, and if anyone has questions you can reply, if I don't see it dm me.

#panic# can you please add the mtl version of this novel. If it’s too much please just add the chapters after 2200, the translated chapters after that are terrible so I think the GPT translation will be better

CCG and RI, the two most contrasting novels ever.
I always think back to Song Shuhang whenever I reread RI, and think back to Fang Yuan whenever I reread CCG.

Quick question for those that have finished it. I was reading it a while ago, before it was finished and I remember that around the 2200's the translator changed and the quality went rapidly down hill.

Since it wasn't finished, I just left it, since I didn't feel much of a desire to wait for chapters that I'd have to slog through.

Did the translation improve after that, or did it remain at that quality for the rest of the novel?

Please tag me if you find the answer. Also if there is any other people retranslating that part. I honestly have good memories of this novel and I don’t want trash level translation ruining it

I don't understand why this one is rated so highly. I want to say that it is relatively inoffensive, like junk food. But it's boring. There is conflict, there are some cultivators who go after the MC at times, but it doesn't take long for it to be resolved. The story is slow, a slice a life. It's just plain with OK writing, I recommend if you want to read it, just read a few chapters here and there. Do not binge it or you'll drop it for being too boring. For example, I started re-reading LE Modesitt's books when I was reading this (I have about 60 or more of his works) and I found that just reading a few chapters a day is best, because I wanted to drop this book by chap 200, but almighty curious at why it's rated so highly and has so many chapters.

Because it's light, no overpowered mc and has funny side too. Though sometimes author is trying too hard to be funny. Some chapters are boring but not too boring it still has connection in the story not just some boring dialogues and back stories. Just my opinion ✌️

Its by no means a mediocre writing when author interconnects apparent filler events even 1000 chapter later into an incredibly intricate web where every little thing is interconnected somehow. Like some comic relief moment with random senior tortured for his reckless words many chapters later turned out to be a culmination of love story that spanned eras and overturned the rules of the world. And whole book is crafted like that, making it incredibly satisfying even when re-reading the novel.

There is no infodumps, writing is light and characters are realistic. Conflicts are interesting as well, with rather difficult to predict events, unlike generic xianxia.

At most, one thing here is mediocre - depth of characters. But its just that kind of genre, and its offset by constant character development.
