    MC is very practical and goal driven, but at times a bit silly and has silly allies. This happens in times when I figure the author wants him to suffer. However, author has to make his enemies silly so he can buy time to escape.

    By this I mean MC is pretty shameless and even though he holds grudges, he cares most about being alive. This is also in the face of profit. He will bow his head and not kill his enemies if killing them would endanger him and he can squash the conflict. Granted not every conflict can be squashed and even some that can be are exasperated by his silly allies.

    MC will at times however do very silly things that will endanger his life for profit. And then end up in a situation where he should die, but because his enemies are silly he ends up turning the tables or escaping.

    Why do authors like digging ditches for their competent MCs?

    The tags say loner MC, but MC is always working with a partner or a team whenever he's doing something. Only time he isn't was when he was

    This is about a native mc who was born in a Land of Exile, kinda like a prision counrty, promptly after getting a unique ability and with merits acumulated to pay the for the exit he left with his friend/follower to explore the world, he then stumbles on to conflics.
    Mc acts like a rogue; cunning, shameless, bold, liar and loves seeking benefits and his sidekick is no better. Something worth mentioning is good fighting scene writing and enemies, third parties and mc included often making wrong assumptions and guesses of the situation with their available information.

    Style, mc is already a chief but only one 'follower' left. Description ok, translate could be anything but the original language is unmistakable, dialogue excellent.
    Plot, well written mix of action, tension and characterisation. The trope seem familiar but still more noble (?) than tags suggest. 30 in and want to keep reading, pretty serious arc transition but will continue.
    Problems, not enough to give 4 stars but yet this ain't no Semi Coercive Imperialist, you immortals agreed in dream so why did you become real, nor Sky Pride .
