Even in an era when such stories were rampant, there were still people who taught them. Collapse

I'll start short and succinctly: this novel is full of shit. The beginning turned out to be quite good, which is why I continued to read this novel, although I saw that with the continuation of the plot everything was going to sink to the bottom. Well, a good start blinded me. In principle, this work has all the disadvantages of Korean short stories: the constant praise of mc's appearance, both where appropriate and where inappropriate. Koreans are very turned on by a beautiful face, so I wasn't surprised when I discovered this problem. But understanding doesn't mean acceptance, so even though I understood that this is a typical problem in Korean novels, it's still annoying. The next problem is the mc itself. He's nothing, literally. Even though he's an mc and 95% of the screen time is devoted to him, he still looks empty. It was already chapter 60 (and there are quite a few chapters here), but the mc remained empty. All they're constantly trying to tell us is that he loves magic and that's it, nothing more. We are not shown any bright features, flaws, serious feelings, internal conflicts, etc. He loves magic and that's literally his whole personality. It's like not a person, but just an impersonal doll to whom his creator prescribed only one command- to get involved in magic. A person, even the most fanatical or obsessed with something, is a multifaceted and difficult being in his understanding, but not an mc. He's just a faceless mass. And personality is not the only problem here, the smoothness of his path is also a problem. I'm not a fan of suffering for the sake of suffering, but life is such that not everything goes according to your plan. But not for mc, no matter what happens, no matter how life turns out in the end, it will benefit mc in the end. His decisions are always right, his methods always work, he is perfect. Even if the bet is lost, the mc still remains in the black. A striking example is the bet between Lee and the first mc student. Lee won the bet, but still the mc remained in the black, they began to respect him even more, listen to him, and so on. Or the duel between Ellen and the sister of the first mc student.
Again, Ellen lost in the duel, but mc was still in the black. They began to respect him more, the most noble houses began to fight with each other for him, and so on. In general, the mc always has a smooth path and he succeeds no matter what he does. So are the mc's teaching methods. In terms of academic knowledge, he is inferior to many aristocrats, but he is still the best teacher. Of course, they try to explain this to us by saying that these noble ladies need a different approach and so on, but let's be honest, mc is inferior on all fronts. He just holds sparring sessions with his students, and that's it, he is considered almost the greatest teacher. In the case of Diella, at least it's clear that he helped her wake up. Although this is extremely controversial considering that aristocrats have access to much more knowledge than mc. Why did the mc think to awaken her with a shock and the others didn't? Because she was the precious daughter of the nobility? So her father didn't interfere when mc was hunting Diella to awaken her magic. So why would he start interfering with other instructors? And her paintings literally had mana streams painted on them, why didn't anyone notice that? Is it because they are classical school magicians and the mc is a wild school magician? But the mc is not the only one, if you wish, you could have found a wild school magician earlier. The Mc somehow embarked on the path of the magician of the wild school, which means that information about this school is publicly available. And do not say that the system helped him, the system does not play any role at all in this novel. By the way, why introduce the system into this work at all? There is no benefit, harm, etc. from it at all. Seriously, it's there, but it doesn't affect the plot at all. The system just displays a list of his spells and that's it. Why was it necessary to introduce the system at all? How to make an mc a migrant. This does not play out in the plot in any way, the mc never once recalled his past life, who he was, what nationality, what age, what he did, and so on. We were just told at the beginning that he was a migrant and that's it, then we literally forgot about it.
As for Ellen and Denise, the mc's role as a mentor there is even less than under Dielle. For Ellen, he was just a sparring partner, nothing more. As a source of knowledge, he is less useful than any other teacher, given that he does not have such access to books as other aristocrats. Therefore, his whole role as a mentor to Ellen was just to occasionally fight with Ellen. But even for this little thing, others began to praise him as a great teacher. And even so, it was possible to find a better teacher. Some kind of war veteran, an old man with a lot of combat experience, and so on, who would teach Ellen the wisdom of kula fighting better than mc. In Denise's case, he just encouraged her and forced her to study. And again, after this little thing, they began to praise him for his great talent as a teacher. Why couldn't others with the best knowledge, experience, and skills of a teacher (given that many experienced teachers had many students before) do this at mc? And this is despite the fact that mc teaches others for the first time, but immediately became unsurpassed in this. As I said before, everything always goes smoothly for mc. And of course, all sorts of other problems like the constantly changing combat power (mc gets stronger, then weaker according to the will of the author. Or, for example, one time it was stated that Diella is much more talented than even mc, but another time it is said that mc is the most talented not only in the world, but generally one of the best in the whole history). But what angered me the most (and after which I stopped reading this novel) was the senseless drama. Wolf Tail, the world's best tracker magician who can see the future, says that the eldest son of the Duplain family will start practicing necromancy in a month or 2 months, and in this case he must be stopped. And he says this to mc personally, a lot before the tragedies. But the mc safely ignores this warning. That is, he doesn't care about them. He had a lot of time to prevent this, all the aristocrats know that Wolf Tail can see the future and that he is teaching mc now. Mc is personally acquainted with the Duke of Duplain and his entire family.
He was free to visit their family any day and warn them. And they would have believed him, because everyone thinks highly of him, and as I said above, all aristocrats know that a Wolf's tail can see the future. And everyone knows that Wolftail is now teaching mc. If he had told them that Wolftail had seen the future, everyone would have believed him and the tragedy would have been averted. But he didn't give a damn about his first student, her family, or the many servants he talked to during Diella's studies. Most of the servants, the duke and the eldest son died, Li (the second son) fell into a coma, Diella and her sister lost many dear people. But at this time, mc hypocritically hugs Diella and comforts her, even though he could have easily prevented this whole tragedy with a few words. It wouldn't have cost him anything. I'm sick of mc, and after that moment, I was completely disappointed in this novel. With this scene, the author wanted to show the mc's difficult decision to kill his student's brother, the inconsolable Diella, the tragedy of many deaths, and to arouse readers' sympathy. But all this didn't make me sad, only disgust for mc and indifference to empty characters like Diella, Duke Dutwein and so on. In conclusion, I want to say that the novel is full of shit and I regret the time I spent. A good start was encouraging, but too much hope eventually turned into poison, which led me to continue reading through the force.

Это хорошо. 7-7,5/10.

Guys I’m at chapter 87 and the amount of girls he meets keep increasing, so I’m scared to go on since the only thing I liked about the book in the first place were the female leads (mc has been a block of wood) and too many female leads would just make it worse (for me). Does anyone know how many girls he ends up with? For now there’s 5-7 girls where I’m at with some sort of relationship with the mc that can go deeper

There are few novels from the new collection that are worth spending time on, and this is one of them. If you want to read something good from the new collection, I recommend "The Azure Mountain.", Overall, it's a great learning experience.

Read the manhwa for this, and i personally like it.
(Do I ever not like a book? Genuine question for myself)
Anyways, plot is that mc is a mercenary and a commoner and he gets enlisted to teach some spoiled brats of nobility. The thing I really like about this is how MC isn't a pushover. For the first girl, minor spoiler, he basically just beats her up until she sees some sense. 9/10
