Acting student Jiang Ci got bound to a shameless system.

—If he wants to stay alive, he has to keep breaking women’s hearts.

Jiang Ci: “…?”

I’m a pure-hearted straight guy who’s been single since birth, and you want me to act like a s*umbag to toy with feelings? This isn’t in my skillset!

Backed into a corner, this top student in the acting department had a brainwave—and successfully glitched the system:

As long as he breaks women’s hearts through acting, by playing tragic characters that make female viewers heartbroken, he can keep himself alive!

From then on, Jiang Ci was forced onto the path of becoming the King of Tragedy Aesthetics.

Others act for art or awards—he acts just so he can keep breathing.

The more tragic his performance, the better his survival.

When he played a heart-wrenching general who died on the battlefield, the Best Actress broke down on the spot, and the entire internet cried their eyes out.

【Ding! You’ve gained a massive amount of Heartbreak Points. Congratulations, Host — lifespan extended by 30 days!】

The whole internet flooded the screen with tears:

“Please! Just give Jiang Ci a happy ending already!”

Having just clawed his way back from the brink of death, Jiang Ci wiped the cold sweat off his forehead, turned to the screenwriter, and said:

“I think my character… can be even more miserable.” Collapse

How do the tags "No Romance" and "Romantic Subplot" not mutually annihilate each other like matter and anti-matter colliding?

So, which is true? Romance or is the protag a cold hearted eunuch munk?

С самого начала начинается какой-то бардак...
Слишком фальшиво описываются события,нет чувства трагедии как таковой

I should've just reread the first part of I Was Mistaken As a Monstrous Genius Actor.
My bad luck to come back to something not even good enough to be junkfood after taking a decently long break from reading

A good, interesting start. The plot of his first three films was very interesting to read, but after that, the story starts to deteriorate into complete crap.
Reading about the filming itself became boring, unlike the first three works, where the filming process was interesting. The audience's reaction to his films and TV series also became boring and overly stale.
The main character lost his individuality too quickly, becoming a walking dead man who only knows how to act in films, sacrificing everything for his roles. The added insult to injury, along with the utterly insipid nationalism and racism, doesn't add to the enjoyment.
+ The hero begins to distort the concept of tragedy; he's no longer playing tragic characters, but rather creating the very trend of tragedy itself; it's too contrived.
In short, by chapter 300+, interest in the plot and the main character begins to rapidly wane. If the author had been able to continue all the chapters at the same level as the first 200 chapters, it would have been a masterpiece in its category. Unfortunately, the author failed.

To me this is better than most, though I can understand where people would start to see the MC less as a fleshed out character and more of a portrayal of a character of a character. I have enjoyed it so far, but like all modern Chinese novels, we end up seeing the racism and heavy nationalism in it, though that portion reads more as if it is history, at least so far.

Brother let me tell you how much of a cliff dive this novel takes 😭 the nationalism gets so bad the author made the mc get a language skill so he can say to Japanese actors they aren’t as good as him

Having read all of "The More Tragic I Act, the Stronger I Get", I will provide an earnest review.

The novel starts incredibly strong. The story is deeply full of life, with funny scenarios, and emotionally moving scenes. The system is woven well into the story, and adds onto to the believable talent the MC has, especially as it details his thinking as an actor for the scenes to come.

The side characters, too, are extremely well explored, with a vast array of lovable, hateable, and personable characters. The novel explores many of these characters in the field of romance, but never does it delve into a harem. (Amazingly!)

However, this is where the good ends. Despite the emotionally moving scenes and awesome side characters being present throughout, the MC seems to get more and more autistic as the novel goes on. He loses his charming sunny personality, and very quickly loses even a logical train of thought. He no longer tries to act tragic, instead the book forces itself to make him be perceived as tragic in scenarios that do not fit well. While his acting remains stellar, his personality dries up and he becomes very unsociable. He also constantly forces himself into situations, almost like an attention seeker. In spite of this, new characters still latch onto the MC as though he is genuinely charming, despite his lack of effort, care, or wit.

I wouldn't read past chapters 200, if you do decide, as I was forcing myself, as the benefits no longer outweighed the drawbacks.

      Peak ✋😭🤚

Edit: 7/10 🤷 it can be summed up as after the initial 200 hype chapters it will probably be placed in my eternal bookmark hell

Here to add on yeah this novel is basically draining the pond to catch the fish the author is basically making all the potential plotlines and shoving them down to nothing all the threats introduced early on are just never appearing again the main character gets roles easily there’s no opposition and he faces 0 difficulties as everyone is on his side the characters who appear early on just kinda disappear it’s just like the author got kidnapped and replaced by someone 10x worse and it physically hurts me it’s like a gut punch constantly honestly it’s not even a 7/10 it’s a 5/10 with how much it has disappointed me I wouldn’t even be this angry if it was bad during the beginning but it was so peak it made the fall even more abhorrent to me
