Interesting novel. The author tried to make progressions as satisfying as possible by putting the mc through a lot. I liked the character progression, but progress is slow. Its an alright read, but nothing special

Is is an ok novel. It starts out strong but over the time it gets repetitive, not in terms of setting, but that MC does not seem to catch a decent break. There is always some tragedy waiting to happen. Author has not even managed to solve the first big issue with family that everything just feels like castle in the sky waiting to come crashing down. And for my reading experience it feels bad. Also MC is a little kid and he is some how acting equal to all around him at one moment and then a small kid next. What I mean is that it feels like there are two different characters playing mc. One is a mature adult and another is silly kid.

Not everybody likes the same tea, or tea at all, but this is my cup of tea.
I feel like this novel is a breath of fresh air for this genre. As somebody said previously, the author is really repectful of the themes but does it with a western take, making in pretty refreshing.
I can see the point that the MC suffers a lot, but I feel it is important for the story and there is a meaning to it. Although it can be unconfortable at times, there is a whole arc around PTSD that is in my opinion really well done.
Volume 1 is a bit slow, but introduces the novel.
Volume 2 is more combat based and bit more dynamic.
Volume 3 is mostly worldbuilding and character progression. (with a bit of face slapping)
Currently (as of volume 3's epilogue), I feel that every volume is better than the last one, and I'm really interested to see how it goes.

My cup of tea / 5

Actually pretty amazing so far as cultivation genre usually go. Author has a poorly disguised fetish to make MC miserable af like that bastard who wrote Kill the Sun / LITOW, but overall nice novel, feel free to read

And together, they will shake the heavens.

I don’t know about the “shaking the heavens” part, because so far the MC is just miserable. One moment, it seems like he’s learned some heaven-shaking lesson about life and the Dao, but the very next moment he’s lost, crying, and back at square one.

I get that the author is aiming for “growth” and “character development,” but at this point it’s starting to feel repetitive and honestly, a little annoying.

The so-called “grandpa” in the treasure doesn’t help much either. Since he needs to consume energy to guide the MC, most of the time he chooses to stay silent and uninvolved. So when the MC actually needs direction, he’s usually left to stumble around on his own.

Now the MC is so lost that his Dao has literally cracked, and we’re on a “healing journey” arc. I wouldn’t mind this if it led to some meaningful development, but I can’t help but worry that the author will just keep throwing miserable situations at him over and over, without real progress.

Another issue is the writing itself. Sometimes it’s hard to even follow the text that you can’t always tell who’s speaking, or what exactly is being discussed. The dialogue and topic shifts feel abrupt and confusing, at least to me.
