    What you need to be aware of are changing perspective and translation. There’s a lot of dialogues and different perspectives between characters and due to translation it’s difficult to understand who’s speaking to whom. What I particularly liked is that author didn’t go into the depth making it generic hero journey, but told brief and concise story. Overall 3.5/5 but I’m sentimental today so 5/5.

    I won't say it's the best book out there, it doesn't even come close. But what I can say is this book is unique, like a fresh smell of flower at this gloomy website 🙂 it took me less than an hour and half to complete this book, it's just like a fresh breath of air in this good forsaken website.         If it's dark world you desire, I'll grant your wish. I just hope your soul doesn't get crushed by the darkness. The whole is getting on because of the dark world element. It's so dark that there's a scene where a character is hungry so he just eat the whole city, and it was done in one line, they picked a town and eat it's people, and best thing, that character is from good guy's team (compared to other people?)... 🥁 🥁 The name is I'll Surpass the MC , it may sound not that impressive but trust me after a few hundred chapters you'll enjoy the darkness but after a few more hundred chapter you'll say "it's too dark, I'd rather not continue reading" ... I think I wrote too much , sorry 😅

        Shadow Slave is worth continuing. You may not enjoy certain plot decisions from the author when it happens but at least you know the story is quite well written and there’s a decent attempt (a very good one even) to tie the world elements and plot together…. Just sometimes the characters/dialogues are not the best and certain plot decision make no sense till much later.

    short and sweet? i guess it's not bad for a short novel, the translation is a bit off but experienced readers can shrug it off, it's written like a diary? maybe, which is not that common, as for the story or writing quality it's good at the start and it deteriorates a bit at the end maybe that's the slowly worsening translation, but still it's a short enjoyable book, so do give it a try
