I have read hundreds, perhaps thousands of novels in my life, yet this is the only one with that classic taste.

It’s a really good novel that I devoured at first, but I just can’t bring myself to finish it. The last 150 chapters are genuinely boring: it’s become predictable, the story goes left and right for no real reason, just to stack cliffhangers, which gets really exhausting after a while.
So I think I’ll stop here and maybe come back to it someday.

Amazing novel, not a really fan of how it culminated to that kind of endgame but maybe it's just me disliking how real this novel is. I'm at the 1259 chapter which is the latest translated chapter and we're just about to reach the end and I guess it was a solid ride. I read novels as a source of some sort of both escapism and entertainment but this novel really felt like a biography of another real man who somehow escaped that dimension and wrote this for us to read. What really sold this novel is how imaginative and how alive every of the characters are. Every ally and enemy has a story and everyone of them somehow felt right on their own perspective, it's just that we are on the MC's perspective that we are the right one this time.

I've read some of the comments here, particularly those who didn't enjoy it. They were somewhat right about the power system, this honestly didn't feel like those fighting/cultivation novels where you would know that this supposed Character A would beat Character B which is kind of confusing but also refreshing at the same time. The novel shows you that to beat an opponent, it's not as linear as you being Level 2 means you beat Level 1. But I get the point that it also makes everything convoluted, we don't have a sense of grasp on the story and sometimes it would feel like actual bullshit that this character A somehow beat this character B.

Another complaints is about the harem situation which let's be real, it did had that thing going on. Several of the girls fell for him but I honestly think that the story on how they met and how it came to be is what mattered. Everyone that had such a direct story with the MC, especially those who fell in love with him made a long-lasting impact to the character development of the MC. It was not as generic as the other harem stories where MC is conflicted on who to choose, it's more of how will they develop their romance at an apocalypse-like situation. In my personal opinion, the romance in this one was super good. Not too cheesy and also not too awkward. It might not be the best but it felt right at the spot. Just how I would like it to be if I didn't expect it to be a romance novel at the first place.

It was such a good read and I would definitely recommend it.

But it is not for everyone. Heck, I believe 90% of the veteran webnovel readers would hate it. I believe webnovels are the ultimate culmination of wish-fulfilling literature and this novel had none of that. If you expect an overpowered protagonist, look elsewhere. This novel has a tragic MC who just wants to live like everybody else peacefully just like one of us. He just happened to receive a system in a world of overwhelming monstrosities, the worst of all, Humans.

If you ever decide to read it, read it with an open mind. This story is a rollercoaster of emotions and values all over it.

Well written, good translation, MC is likeable.
Just not my cup of tea, too many unreasonable decision made for the sake of plot.
